I am a great believer in personal expression.

When I was a teenager, I preferred to be different in my own way, so i wore my hair short and looked like a bank manager, and apart from loosing my haiir, my look has never altered.

Interestingly, as a music writer, I mix with emos, goths, punks, metalheads and so on, and I am the curiosity who gets a second look - but perfect acceptance.

In the 'straight' world where I work, I fit right in, so that suits me fine.

I do love seeing people who wear their passions on their person - with tattoos, piercings, clothing, or what ever, and i think as long as the individual is happy, then that's cool.

They are not doing it to impress me, nor would I ever want them to. i just admire quietly.
The revolution must have already commenced, I have had quite a few tattooed women up against the wall.
pointing your weapon at them Octavious.
;-)
no tatts, no piercing, no gold full-stop what a waste of time and money.

i p*ss my self @ the morons with the 2 stone curb chains and bracelets how much more insecure can a person be?

no apologies to anyone on here who wears em and i suspect there is a few!
I dont think many people on here has said its wrong and they shouldnt do it. Same as its their personal choice to wear certain things its out personal opinion not to like something. Doesnt mean we are going to stop them doing it.
Whereas, no-knowledge, standing in the corner wearing the cone shaped D-cap, seems to suit you just fine..

:o)
It's only irony when it's distinguishable from genuine rabid reactionary thought.

Otherwise it's about as ironic as coming home and saying "Oh I've been meaning to tell you I'm leaving you for another woman - only kidding! -isn't that ironic?"

Thanks all for the discussion/answers :o)

The reason I asked is (yes, I know I'm setting myself up to be shot at, but what the heck!) I had worn a gold stud and small, but thick sleeper for about 20 yrs. One day about a year ago, I took them out (for safety reasons at work) and just never got round to putting them back in.

More than once, I've had people say they look nice on me/suit me and I was just pondering whether to put them back in.

I may do it at the weekend to see how I feel! :o)
Hematite.

That's irony.
I had my ear pierced several years ago (it was fashionable honest), but generally grew out/got fed up of it. Its not something I would revisit really, even if Eva Longoria said I looked hot with it in and she would date me well ok maybe put it in for the odd night.

Nah, I think as said, if it feels right for you do it, and be damned with the nay-sayers. Personally I am not fond of tattoos on women and earrings on men, but can see beyond that to the personality of the peeps. For example, my wife has a tattoo and we still talk occaionally when we bump into each other in the kitchen.
Ooer the Fashion Police again ? Here's an idea -Mind yer own business.
I like diamond studs on men who look like David Beckham, Shayne ward or Callum Best ( phwoar ) cos they all have gorgeous faces. Then you get men like Peter Stringfellow with long straggly hair and it is a no no !!
my mum said I should take all my piercings out my ears now I;m 30. :-(
When I had my ear pierced, my mum thought I had turned gay.
Jake. Did you not see the little:-) I put after my answers?
