Is there such a thing? If a relationship starts out on a platonic footing, is it possible for a man and a woman to maintain a friendship indefinitely on that basis, or is it inevitable that after time, the intentions of one or the other, or both, will change?

Not telling. ;o)
Well bl00dy well tell 'him' at least...
I have male friends and I wasn't planning on sleeping with any of them, unless they get more attractive, stop interrupting me, become straight, etc....

But do they think of you in the same way, Sara? The straight ones I mean. :o)
I would hope so, we are all (reasonably!) mature.

also, they all know I'm single so would have probably made some enquiries by now if they were interested.

but... I have lost a couple of male friends in the past who wanted more..

Maybe not... but they'll pay in some way lol...

Hetero sexual relationships are only possible in the following circumstances:

a) One of the two is so ugly that the other one doesn't fancy his/her.
b) One or the other has tried it on, but has been rebuffed.

If the above 2 alternatives do not apply, then a platonic heterosexual relationship cannot be entertained.

Sqad... are you the ugly one or did you try it on and get knocked back? ;-p
I have had platonic relationships with fellas - it can work.
snags.....both........that is why I am an authority on platonic heterosexual relationships.
DEN....I assume that neither of you can be described as "ugly" and that he has not made a pass at you, or you him?

Yeah! right.

Sqad - I am very good at rebuffing.
