i think that sometimes things that happen to people are not always coincidence and maybe god has his reasons for what he does (good and bad) the bad is always the hardest to except. Human nature (like i said in my last question) is always going to be what we think is right (good is a point of view depending on who you ask ) when i was a baby i almost drowned in a lake a friend of the family happened to see me and got to me before it was to late. That is why i think god sometimes uses people to help other people.

You know ultraman human intelligence is based on seeing patterns. You See A and then B and work out C is going to happen next.

It's a really powerful thing and the human drive to seek out patterns is very strong. So strong in fact that some people, many people have a tendency to see patterns and design where none actually exist.

I think your desire, need even, to see patterns and design and meaning is probably very strong indeed

Just suppose, ultraman, that you saw a man drowning and, because you're a good fellow, you rescued him. In thanking you he tells you that he is a Sumerian who worships the goddess Ninkurra and it was she who inspired you to do your good deed.

A quandary for you: was it your god or his? Then along comes an Egyptian who says it was his god Herysaf who inspired you, and a Japanese who says it was Daikoku. Oh dear, how do you sort that out?

As I said on another thread ......"May your God go with you" - Dave Allen. If it gives you comfort to believe in any God, then that's all that matters, just do no harm to anyone who believes differently.

Do you have any more of these tales of your use of deductive reasoning to support your belief in God ?

If you feel the need to believe in a supreme being, fair 'nuff, however your examples of divine intervention, etc. really don't stand up to scrutiny as evidence of that existence.

Things could be done by God but such these devine interventions are utterly indistinguishable from occurrences that happen at random. Hence we don't really need God to explain what happens. The belief in God is a distraction from reality.

You may well have been lucky enough to be saved and feel like it was meant. However the other kid who drowned alone isn't here to tell us their story of dumb bad luck or that God meant for then to die for some unknown reason.

Ah, bless, I always find it amusing the way people believe in something that doesn't exist......like god.

Presumably these same people believe in Santa, the fairies at the bottom of the garden, the tooth fairy and the troll under the bridge.

And if they don't, why not?

The chances of there being a god are just the same as there being Santa.

If you hope for real, meaningful, understandable answers then begin by factoring "mysterious" out of the equation.

I don't believe in God at all, I don't think he exists as to me it's logically impossible. Anything that does happen happen's, there's not some dude in the sky controlling everything.
