Living on your own
29 Answers
Don't people who live on their own become lonely and sad because of living on their own? Or can it be a lovely experience? As you'll guess I've never lived on my own though I have spent a few days alone when hubby's been away on business and the house feels so empty... Maybe it's something you get used to but eating meals on your own can't be much fun.

I am perfectly content on my own.Now that our youngest daughter has moved out, I am often alone as the present Mrs H's work takes her away one or two nights a week most weeks in school term time. She went abroad for two weeks a couple of months ago, and is going for a month in October.
I am very lucky I know, because I never feel lonely, or bored - but it is a matter of being comfortable on your own - which doesn't suit everyone.

I think there's a difference in really living on your own and being on your own for a few days etc. I think I'd miss having a chat over dinner about the day, asking for advice, getting a second opinion, having to rely on myself for getting all the jobs done (I haven't a clue about cars), sharing the house with someone else etc Maybe because I've never lived on my own so I do think I'd feel it weird.
I have lived on my own for 19 years, and although I have friends both male and female I find it refreshingly comfortable, being able to please myself when I get up, what I choose to watch on TV, and what and when I choose to eat. I do cook a proper meal for myself each day, and never seem to have time to get bored or lonely. Perhaps I am one of those lucky people that are content with their own company ( and a psycotic cat) My secret is to fill each day with as much as I can, even if its only being on the laptop, watching TV or mundane housework.I can also spend hours reading, especially if I have a really good book (I am fortunate to have a good library near to me), so perhaps I am just one of the lucky ones.
its amazing how many singletons have cats or dogs. i cant have either as i have an allergy to them. i seem to have lived alone most of my life. i dont really like it, but seem to have no choice. sort of unlucky in love they call it. i seem to have the ability of choosing the wrong girl, and just put up with it, then cant wait til she´s returned to her place, cuz i just know we not suited. i´ve had countless girlfriends. but only had 1 love, but she kept telling me to find some1 younger, as she cudnt give me kids. i wont go on, as its now beginning to hurt.
