Premonitions

Have you or do you have premonitions? I have since a child and they seem to be more prolific as I get older. Many times I've thought of something happening before the event and it's turned out exactly as I'd thought of it (does this indicate that the future is there already...?). I never take these "premonitions/thoughts" for granted and most times are shocked that they come about.

Some time ago one was awful as on the Saturday I mentioned to OH that someone we knew of but to do with our friend was going to pass away and it was so strong a feeling I wrote it in my diary. Didn't think too much about it but the following Thursday I had a phone call to say her sister had literally dropped down dead as she was walking to catch the bus. Her sister wasn't ill nor was there any concern for her health and she wasn't elderly either. This is one of many things that have come true that I've thought of prior to it happening over the years. Do you think it's coincidence or something that can't be explained?

classylady60, you say that you can't tell in advance which of your thoughts are going to turn out to be premonitions.
So have you ever considered that, when something happens to you, you then look back at all the thoughts you have had to find one that fits the incident? Hey presto, a premonition! Do you ever think of co-incidence?

Lovely to see Old_Geezer producing a new excuse as to why paranormals never step forward to claim the prizes offered by the likes of James Randi.
It is illogical to suggest that the future exists, but the past definitely does. All television programmes, for example, are zooming out into space in sequential order, so if you were far enough away you could watch the very first transmission of Coronation Street, but would you want to?
I'm a lot better at picking up what's already happening, and as the teaching is the whole universe is connected as the Akashic Records, then the more we develop the better we can collect information from it. But as time is also not necessarily linear it does seem possible to pick things up that may not have happened on our line but happening on another version of it we will catch up with. The best examples I get nowadays are when the same things happen all in a bunch, and now not just to me but people around me. I've also found I've been directed to find certain things I'd never have found by looking, but by combinations of wrong turnings and looking for other things nearby have been sent to find extra ones as well. Had one slip not happened I would never have found them, it's not just happened once but a few times, and once I had a dream of the exact item I found months earlier. I wouldn't call it a premonition as the thing had been there for ages but I hadn't seen it.

@ chakka - no it's not as easy as finding which thoughts fit a particular incident, the thoughts that apply are actually spot on to an incident I then see them as premonitions. The particular one I mentioned about "someone passing away who was connected with a friend of mine" that was specific, only had it the once on the Saturday and the following week was told her sister had died, dropped dead in actual fact and had not known to be ill. I didn't dream this up, it happened so no I'm not looking for things that fit the bill. All my premonitions are exactly as I've seen them....it's a case of when the things comes true I then realise I'd thought or dreamt of it happening. Can't explain it any better than that.

Definitely agree that there is such a thing as coincidence but I'm on about having "seen" things or know things and them coming true...completely different to coincidence. I guess unless one experiences such a thing, you can't understand or comprehend it happening.

That's your opinion doc, accepted but seeing that you don't say if you've had any premonitions that have come true then I feel you it's just an opinion and not a comment as to whether mine are total nonsense or not.

@ doc, so if "a vague feeling something may or may not happen" actually comes true what is a premonition then?

Doc, I wouldnt be so sure there is not possibility of premonition. Several years ago I asked someone I knew, during a meeting in a pub, "What is going to happen at the end of the year when X is no longer here?" I didnt even know why I said this. He responded. Why will he not be here. He is younger than I am. Then we both changed the subject. At the end of the year X died of pneumonia. I cant explain it, but I said it!

Ok with your opinion doc but when one documents the thought as I did on the day it happened, how can that be coincidence....I just knew something was going to happen as I had a very strong feeling about this one, as I did with the car accidents but of course I realise it is impossible to convince someone who doesn't have an open mind.

I had a 'dream' very vivid about a 'big wheel' being built near the Thames in London, this was way back in 1989 - so we now have the London Eye, however in my dream this wheel collapsed and fell into the Thames killing everyone on board.
What an wonderful interesting thread this is classylady.
I've just been going through the previous comments, and I was intrigued by the responses being made.
Hmm, but wouldn't it be good if I had a premonition about tomorrows Euromillion draw!! :) xD
Yeah,I know that sounds a bit greedy, but winning all that amount would give me utmost pleasure in donating some of it to the charities that I support, especially cancer research which is just one of them,as my dad died of prostate cancer some years ago.I would gladly share with my family too.

My mind is completely open which is why the notion of a premonition is claptrap. Thus spake Docspock!

Yes would be great if we could see ahead whatever we wanted to...lottery numbers et al but of course it never works like that (unfortunately lol), similarly to you imhotep I'd love a large amount of money to be able to donate to lots of people and charities,...sadly one cannot conjure it up. That's why I say I can't predict what is a premonition because I don't know until it comes true and I think others have said similar too when I've spoken with them about it.

Would be nice to know the truth behind all these things, though if we did then we wouldn't have anything to wonder about...if everything was answered eh?...lol.
Sorry Docspock. Predicting the lottery is not a test of premonition. If they happen to you, it is not because you try and predict something. They happen and are about something that was not on your mind and was not something that you were "trying" to predict. As they have never happened to you and you are quite certain that they are not possible (for that reason?), and you are not really contributing anything more than your sceptism, then I guess you are just looking for a reaction on this thread. Happy to give you a reaction but still maintain that you are not as open minded as you think you are!
Yep, I couldn't agree more with your comments classylady, and docspock!!!

It's nice to dream of a big win though!! :D
Who knows, if you believe in your dreams, that they may, and I emphasise the word may, come true. You never know if you don't try.
Just a thought.
