Testing faith.

How does a religious person honestly feel when a personal tragedy happens; loved one dies/cancer/go blind etc.
Do they really regard this as god's will without question to test their faith?

What you would grade as a "reasonable" answer would never come. The only reason is that your reason is not quite reasonable. And whatever you would not want to agree with, would be considered unreasonable by you.
In other words it is a sign of a person who know what he want to read or hear and anything Other than that is unreasonable.
Otherwise to answer your question I could have given you my own personal example. During last one year, six months and 18 days I have lost six very close relatives including my mother and two sisters. And that has only strengthened my faith if anything. And the reason is very simple that these deaths proved to me the reality of life which my faith had taught me beforehand. Now that might not be good enough reason for you and many more but then you do have a right to have a personal opinion. But that does not make others opinion wrong.

Surely it depends on the individual and their beliefs.
It need not be a test of faith that some folk inevitably face problems to overcome. After all, what reason for us humans if all that happens is a superbeing continually shields us from what would otherwise be reality ? We'd just be a liability for them.

faith is believing without having to have proof. that would be too easy.
Everyone suffers illness and bereavement at sometime in their life whether
they are a believer or not. We all have freedom of choice. Some choose not
to believe in God, whilst others choose to believe in God. We should all
respect each others views without stooping to childish mickey taking.
You believe in the wind, but you cant see it, yet you know it's there. You
feel it on your face, and blows your washing dry. You cant see electricity, yet
you know it's there because it powers all the gadgets in our homes. So why
do you have trouble believing in God just because you cant see him.

I respect what you believe cupid, but a wind can be made with a flapping a piece of cardboard and electircity is proven to be an array of photons or whatever you call them, that they are there can easily be proven with a multi-meter.
I do not have any gripe with religion until that interferes with general Society, tax concessions, harming others in the name of religion to name a couple.
It is just beyond my comprehension that anyone could worship an omnipotent creator who 'gifts' people a child and then inflicts that child with disease or death for no other reason than to test their faith.
It needs saying again; why does your God allow 40,000 children to die in Africa every day? These innocent children suffer immensely before they find relief in death.

The reason in my humble opinion, that people suffer here on this planet is that it is the hell that is talked about. You only have to see the evil that goes on here which far outweighs the good, there's no balance as far as I;m concerned because I see that evil wins every time. Those who have to try and believe in a faith have to have a reason to follow and so they invented a god....sigh
