Worst thing about being an atheist?

I think it's that you'll never know if you were right, you'll only know if you were wrong.

I believe more important is that WHEN would you find if you were wrong. In an atheist case it would be after he/she dies. But then it would be too late. Someone did say that it is better to believe and then being wrong and find that nothing (Heaven or Hell existed) than not believing and then ending up there when it had already been too late.
Simplest way of dealing with that is that first of all you accept that you MIGHT be wrong and it should be very easy for atheists as according to them they would believe if proof was given. And then do one thing. Sometime in isolation only for your own sake say,
“Oh God, I am not sure if you exist or you don’t. However if you do exist then please guide me to the right path”.
Now if you consider then after saying these few words in reality you have not lost anything. You have put onus on God that if he does exist then he should show you the right path. I am not saying that he should make you Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Jew or any other religion. I mentioned right path. And then keep you mind open to the possibilities in the future and I am sure God will show you the right path. And more importantly, before it is too late.

i just think your 'prayer' is slightly skewed: I have no issue with;
“Oh God, I don't know if you exist or you don’t. However if you do exist then please guide me to the right path”
However, I think if there were a god it is egotistical and self-absorbed (as religion fundamentally is) to imagine that you saying anything actually makes any difference in the greater scheme of things.

I wonder if the answer is not that, like the religious, the atheist utterly rejects the possibility that he/she might be wrong and thus is resolutely blinkered - this about something that cannot be proven either way (unless/until you are dead, if you think the answer might reveal itself at that point). If I may join in the discussion about Spreading, I find the American style Christian pontification thoroughly boring, but he/she has the infinite right to continue dishing it out, as much as I have the right to ignore it as humbug.
Thing is i treckon most atheists would happily believe in god, if there were some irrefutable proof or evidence...(like if he turned up on news at 10)
atheism is not an irrational brainwashed belief
it is the believer whose mind is not their own and they are the ones that, if suddenly there was some undeniable proof that god did not exist...they would still believe and find some convoluted excuse for the proof being fake...as they have been doing for centuries.

Joko, not wanting to get into a Yes it is, No it isn't situation, I would nevertheless suggest that while you are probably correct that a lot/most religious folk would be inclined to reject practically all proof of there being no god, it is (I suspect) pretty much equally likely that atheists would reject proof that such an entity (in some form, then almost certainly bearing no resemblance to any scripture's allusion) does indeed exist. That is the problem with anointing oneself as the vessel of ultimate truth - pro or against, so to speak, and in the absence of any proof either way.
Worst thing is, that when all those believers out there start trying to bully you into their way of thinking when they cotton on to you being an atheist. I usually tell them that its best to care about your enviroment and to look out for others that need some care or help. Which you don't have to be religious to do. Thats a better attitude than being a bullying believer.
