The God promoted by believers cannot be reconciled with the God of the Bible. He made mistakes, he was unjust, and he was neither omniscient nor omnipresent. Nevertheless, despite glaring evidence to the contrary, members of his fan club tell us he was perfect. How do they justify that?

Theological game you say - The name is obvious if only it hadn't already been taken.

Trivial Pursuit.

Khandro "Hitler, Stalin and Mao were venerated as if they had supernatural powers" only by those who wanted to live.
DtD, Quite true, I should have said 'Venerated by some'. Though of course, that applies to all gods.
Slightly off topic but I am listening to an audiobook at the moment about the Apocryphal Gospels and what I find interesting is how apparent it is that later writers, fairly skillfully at times but bluntly in others, wove their own religious beliefs into the existing information on Jesus and created their own versions of the 'Gospels' for use in their own sects, it is quite amazing what can be inferred about early Christianity from these writings.

This must also have happened with a lot of the Bible also, including, and probably especially, the bits about God. It amazes me that people who revere the Bible cannot see that it was written by humans who had their own agenda at the time of writing it.

^^ Yes indeed.
Religion. .... structures created by man to control other men...
Question Author
And not one of those men here to defend God's preferred reputation.
Have I not defended it with some subtlety?
Question Author
Sandy, if this thread has illustrated one thing it is that not even the most ardent believer can defend the indefensible. However, although it's clearly gone straight over the heads of the less astute, you, with your ever-active wooden spoon, have, as always, brought a little humour. Bless you my son. ;o)
Oh, this is simply too much! Having only recently discovered that me mom is none other than R&S' most notorious baker of custard pies, now I'm informed that I have a brother . . . and he cooks! The bathroom scales are attempting to seek refuge behind the throne of wisdom as I speak.

I know, it's true, I really should get out more often. But here, right here in R&S it would appear, I have a life . . . and how could anyone ask me to deny myself that?
Ankou //we should only release it on praystation 3 to start with, then branch out to a christ-box release by christ-mas //

LOL
"Bless you my son." - Naomi is now dispensing blessings; I feel it will not be long before we have a full conversion, - Hallelujah! :-)
Question Author
Khandro, My conversion took place a long time ago - thank Zeus! :o)
Ah! The supreme god.
Question Author
Ha ha! Who else? If you're going to do it, you may as well do it properly! ;o)
