The God promoted by believers cannot be reconciled with the God of the Bible. He made mistakes, he was unjust, and he was neither omniscient nor omnipresent. Nevertheless, despite glaring evidence to the contrary, members of his fan club tell us he was perfect. How do they justify that?

Know then thyself, presume not God to scan;
the proper study of Mankind is Man.
Curiously, it was a Pope wrote that^^^ ;-)

Goodlife, I've never watched Father Ted, so I don't actually know what you mean.

I do, however, know you haven't answered the question.
Naomi, I feel I must enter this discussion if only to say that if you get an opportunity to watch the all too few episodes of 'father ted' then do so. It may give you some insight into the workings of the catholic church and give you hysterics simultaneuosly.;-)
Sandy....try harder I'm sure that god would appreciate a little help from you.

Jomifl, ok. If I get a chance, I'll give it a go.
"Father Ted" is actually Carakeels Cousin, she knows him well.
Question Author
I thought I read somewhere the man who played Father Ted died. Have I got that wrong?
Even God will only take so much ragging before he dispatches a thunderbolt. There are some here who might weigh their words a bit more carefully.
lol
Actually Naomi I believe you are correct, The old man Father Jack (Frank Kelly) is Carakeels Cousin.

This is Frank Kelly in another role and almost festive, worth listening too, very funny!!

Ratter, I don't know who that man is, but that was clever. :o)

Sandy, you see, that's why God has people gripped by the proverbials. Idle threats without foundation.
Sandyroe: I must be well in line for this thunder bolt, If he presented himself to me I would be the first to have his head on the chopping block!!

I will now step outside and will wait for death by thunderbolt :)

Take your sandwiches Ratter. You're in for a long wait. :o)
sandyRoe //Even God will only take so much ragging before he dispatches a thunderbolt. There are some here who might weigh their words a bit more carefully.//

Yeah but who he chooses is quite mysterious (as are all of God's decisions).

Years ago there was a guy in the US who worked as a park ranger I think. He was repeatedly struck by lightning. I saw an interview with him. He said that after a few hits he would drive away from storms.

One time he did this and when he was sure he was far enough away he got out of his car. A single samll cloud was above him. Whack.

He explained in the interview how he had prayed to God to stop it happening and although God never said why he was doing it He promised that He would not do it any more.

The man was struck again and committed suicide.
@beso, with respect; Not much of an argument, one way or the other!
beso, I bet God was p1ss1ng himself when he done it again!!!!

He wasnt expecting that!!!!!
Oh come on Khandro, lighten up, sometimes it can be difficult to take all this God crap seriously!!!

Im still waiting for my thunderbolt!!
Mwahahaha!, you want a thunderbolt?
<<<<<< is still waiting!!
In the first world war, the priests on both sides told the soldiers that God was on their side.

I can't see how Christians get their heads round that - can anyone explain, please?
