There are many; in the UK one the main parties is led by an atheist. Doubtless there have been others - Winston Churchill was not religious and described himself as agnostic. But he Soldier, politician and finally a prime minister, Winston Churchill was one of Britain's greatest 20th-century heroes. He is particularly remembered for his indomitable spirit while leading Great Britain to victory in World War.

No - duh, I NEVER realised this, as also ditto 95%+ of the AB population

Now he is preaching truisms - congratulations on being so demeaning.
Again more distortion from you, Elderman - where did the Bible say the wise and the intellectual,

The St James Bible quotes: "At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes."

I didn't realise that intellectuals and prudent folk were the same.

For God's own sake, stop this distortion from pseudo-Christian organisations that you, evidently, do not understand, merley parrot their so-called "interpretations."
There's not all that much difference between those that believe in god and the atheists anyway - there are supposed to be hundreds of gods - the believers believe in only one of them and reject all the rest, while the atheists reject them all. Only one god difference, and if the believers put forward the reasons why they reject all the other gods apart from their own, the atheists would say 'I reject yours for the same reason as you've just stated'
So what do you believe in, mariner, Greek polydeities perhaps?
Every time I pop in here, I see the same rubbish posted by this person. He/She cannot believe that carrying on like this will sway any of us.
All it does for me is enhance my previous views that we are the master of our own destiny.
Elderman, Mormon, pah
DTcrosswordfan - none of them. I'd like to, but I can't. I just think religion comes from a total inability to accept the fact that when we die, there is oblivion. Much nicer to believe otherwise, but . . . . .

Well a Wise man once said:
The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard is: "Fear the True God and keep his commandments. For this is the whole obligation of man. For the true God himself will bring every sort of work into the judgement in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad".
And another wise man once said ...

The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.... Stephen Hawking

There is a difference. A wise man who believes in God and one who believes in worldly wisdom.(Eccl 12:13-14)
I do,nt feel threatened by it it at all.
What I do get fed up with,is reading this type of evangelistic bible-bashing
all day and every day.
I am of Christian beliefs, but personally I detest other people trying shove their
views,down my throat.
I believe to each his/her own.
"A wise man who believes in God"
Im not sure any man can be wise and yet so obviously gullible to believe in all this clap trap you keep spouting!

Elderman, I would be interested to know how many people you think you have converted so far?
Elderman, //There is a difference. A wise man who believes in God and one who believes in worldly wisdom//

A bit of an oxymoron going on there. A wise man would consider the possibility that a creator God may exist, because a truly wise man considers all possibilities - but he would dismiss your God as a contender for the title because the evidence confirms beyond doubt that he was not omnipotent.

Jolly good.
^^ I'm with her! Great! 'The matter is concluded' :o)
Not quite the St James Bible Elderman, not bad and closer to the reality of what was written - not your usual perverse distortions of the Bible.

We'll get you back on the straight and narrow - and who knows, you may see the error of your ways.
