Without the concept that by worshiping an invisible man in the sky, people can somehow avoid the inevitable, religion would be surplus to requirements.

We're all going to die eventually, we won't know anything about it, so what's the problem?

“Faith is an admirable trait. It's good to have faith in another person. But when faith is used as a substitute for reality, then it becomes a crutch for refusing to deal with that reality.”

Just remembered to look at this thread again, didn't realise there would be any replies. The Devil never sleeps does he. But it is too late tonight to get involved in your patronising little homilies, and it seems RATTER is doing quite well stroking your egos for you. Being a Pagan and worshipping little deities that live in the woods is the way to achieve full blown atheism I take it? I'm pished of the same old platitudes jomphil.
AYG if you could present a rational argument for your 'belief' rather than resorting to cliches and mockery then it would be possible to take your contribuions seriously, but that is unlikely to happen is it.
@askyourgran. "Being a Pagan and worshipping little deities that live in the woods is the way to achieve full blown atheism I take it?" Im a little curious of that remark?

If you explain what you are talking about in an adult manner than perhaps we can explain our side.
epichoric...i can see why your comments were removed...youre an idiot.
anyway naomi, maybe it was my choice of words, but when i said scared i do not mean scared as in cowering in fright, more of a respect.

Sith, or more of 'if I don't do as I'm told, I won't get to heaven'. ;o)
lol, not really. :) as a muslim we believe all muslims go to heaven anyway, bad ones do go to hell but do not stay there.
Question Author
Oh right. So you don't want to do a stint in hell then, so you do as you're told. Still amounts to the same thing. You believe in your religion because you don't want death to be the end for you.
no, more like i dont want to go to hell. Death is not the end of anyone anyway.
Goodness me, sith, you lot are quick to lop off a head in Jeddah or wherever, and then you receive a "get-out-of-jail" card from Hell.......there's something perverted in that?
Question Author
Death isn't the end for anyone? Where am I going then?
not if you learn about islam, and they do go to hell, however i dont decide the sentences do i, god does. its like you deciding how long someone goes to jail (unless youre a judge or jury). first step to jannah is by being a muslim and i mean PROPER muslim, not just one thats muslim by name but doesnt act like one.
as my beliefs you will either go to heaven or hell, hopefully heaven :)
Question Author
Blimey, from what I've seen of the company I'm likely to encounter, I seriously hope not!
I wouldn't want to go to heaven if its full of people like Sith and Elderman, ill take my chances in hell!!

They all think they are so good and righteous, all they do on site is irritate people with their stupid unbelievable nonsense.
so you would rather go hell?...suit yourself.
yet im not the one being rude ratter??? you amaze me.
Question Author
Sith, religion doesn't offer a third alternative - like oblivion, which is what atheists expect - and since you can't accept the prospect of oblivion, you believe what you want to believe.
why do we have to accept oblivion if you dont have to accept what we believe?
As neither exist, (except in the minds of the confused) its really not a problem for me.
