Atheists - The Devil's Disciples?
70 Answers
I've been asked by a Christian ABer if I spent last night watching the Omen trilogy. Not very nice - but the question struck me as rather strange. I can't imagine why such a peculiar thought would even occur to anyone. Do these people really think that atheists are somehow aligned with the 'Devil'? And if so, why?

Are you implying that atheists are atheists because they are too proud to believe? If so they have broken one of the 10 commandments and will burn in hell forever. Except that they won't because everyone is born a muslim so will go to heaven anyway. Except that they won't if they are not jewish, but will if they recant before their death and are blessed by a priest...etc.
@ Sandy - no, Satan does not exist, any more than god. What you are expressing here is your faith, not truth verified by fact.
Again you repeat this rubbish that atheists exhibit "pride" by stating their lack of belief in a deity, whilst secretly yearning for spiritual enlightenment. Again, a worldview unique to religionistas and at variance with the actuality. It is the zealots and believers on here who take pride in their faith in a deity in the absence of any evidence whatsoever - the equivalent of a child sticking their fingers in their ears, humming loudly and saying " I can't hear you" when anyone exposes the irrationality of religion. Frankly, its pathetic.

What Naomi failed to mention in her opening post is that she originally came on a post that bibblebub started about cliques on here. I just happened to

This has always been a dilemma for me ever since the first time I was asked to become a believer. Between the two, God <> Devil, how is one supposed to distinguish one from the other . . . especially with regards to which one wrote the Bible. As the Devil is ascribed with a penchant for deception . . . who's zoomin' who? . . . or are they simply two sides of the same coin - http://showcase.thebl...July2007/GodDevil.jpg
I have seen it said on here that if God does exist then the Devil or Satan must also exist. You can not have one without the other in the same way dark can only exist as the opposite of light or good can only exist if bad also exists as it's opposite ( Not my own views, just what I have seen by watching posts.)
Anne, I think you've misunderstood my purpose in posting this question. I'm not upset - merely curious. I haven't mentioned 'offence' because I'm not in the least offended. 'Offence' is something I never succumb to without a really justifiable reason - and silliness certainly doesn't fit that criteria. I just found the comment rather extraordinary and wondered if others would too. (Apart from that, it's a talking point that hopefully relieves us all of the prospect of 'Armageddon' for a while). ;o)
Craft, thank you, that's very kind - but if you're talking about me being misguided on this issue, see above.

Wildwood, //If you believe that God is good and Satan bad then why not the other way around. Is it God (the bad one) who makes us believe that Satan (the good one) is the bad one? The mind boggles! //
I've often thought about that. In fact I've posted here about it once or twice. That old Devil's such a trickster! Or is it God? ;o)

Sandy, //I'd say it's the atheists here in AB who display that failing [pride]. Too proud to believe, yet intrigued by what they deny.//
I hesitate to speak for others, but my disbelief doesn't arise from any sense of pride, but simply from honest investigation. Maybe you should try it sometime. It's all there if you want to look. ;o)

God and Satan might be like those people we all knew in school. The smart but degenerate socially powerful one sets up the unsuspecting sychophant to impliment their evil plans for them. This way they avoid being blamed for what goes down even though they are the actual prime mover.

sandyRoe // At the moment of consecration the wafer is transubstantiated and becomes the body of Christ. //
When the the actual consecration take place?
Does it taste like flesh or does the consecration happen after it is swallowed?
How should I adjust the entries on my carbs and protein counters for my diet?
