Atheists - The Devil's Disciples?

I've been asked by a Christian ABer if I spent last night watching the Omen trilogy. Not very nice - but the question struck me as rather strange. I can't imagine why such a peculiar thought would even occur to anyone. Do these people really think that atheists are somehow aligned with the 'Devil'? And if so, why?

Surely it wasn't a serious comment... I shall keep an eye on this thread as I polish my cloven hooves...
Some do. They find it difficult to comprehend that other people don't share their beliefs. It's the whole black and white blind faith thing. If you don't worship God, therefore you must worship the Devil. Obvious!
As an atheist I don't believe in the devil but The Omen (first one) is a good film.
That's just silly, how can an atheist align themselves with something that doesn't exist, I thought that was the sort of thing only the religious do.

Her original post implied (and not for the first time) that atheists are something to be despised, so I offered her a couple of crossed candlesticks to fend them off - and that's what she came back with. :o)
It is odd because the rituals of the church share much in common with occult and witchraft.

Rituals, incence, chanting, incantations, even symbolically drinking blood and eating flesh.

"Body of Christ" cracker anyone?
No. They show themselves here on AB to be decent people for the most part, but are clearly lost souls desperate for the reassurance and comfort of faith.
God - Jehova - Allha etc etc - Whatever - Dosen't matter (I'm a Christian) How did this Universe all begin - Something (or call it 'Someone' started it all before eternity began (What a thought) - before eternity, never mind about eternity in the future. It's a Mystery & you have to go along with what you have been brought-up to believe. We are all travelling in the same direction between birth & death
Sorry Wazzard, but no, we do not have to go along with what we have been brought up with to believe. We can learn to think and make our own decisions as to what is right and wrong, what is truth or lies. Well, at least most of us manage to! :o)
"It's a Mystery & you have to go along with what you have been brought-up to believe."
Very sensible - if everyone did that, we'd still in the stone age.
@ Sandy - that is a pretty condescending view of those declared atheists on here - that they are all lost souls desperate for spiritual guidance. I would say, based upon the texts posted, that none show such needs, but of course to you religionistas, such a sentiment helps to validate your worldview.

Are you aware of how arrogant you sound?
Beso.. if you think thaty communion wafers are symbolic of the body of christ then I'm afraid you haven't quite grasped the awsome vision of the catholic church. Communion wafers really are the body of christ which is why they are eaten every sunday (?) I have been assured of this 'fact' most vehemently by a catholic ABer so it must be true.
Indeed it is. At the moment of consecration the wafer is transubstantiated and becomes the body of Christ.
Agree with lazygun there....but we expect such thoughts from the religious nuts surely....they wouldn't be themselves unless they were trying to convert all and sundry.
I try to be a Christian and do not think of Atheists as the Devil’s disciples, in fact they have the best arguments, I just think they are wrong.
The great sin, I believe, is pride. It caused the downfall of Lucifer and so brought a raft of troubles to mankind.
I'd say it's the atheists here in AB who display that failing. Too proud to believe, yet intrigued by what they deny.
Sandy.. are seriously telling us that satan no longer exists?
I won't be called an atheist because it's the word religionists use to describe someone who doesn't "come up to their standards".....but what people who don't believe want is proof of what you believe in. There's no tangible evidence, nothing to see, nothing to touch or store....just belief and that really isn't good enough when it's based on superstition and nonsense IMO.
So Christianity condones cannibalism eh? And then we have Jesus the zombie. You learn something new every day ;)
Sadly, he exists still and stalks the corridors of AB.
