Have the atheists and theists agreed to study war no more and live in peaceful silence? I've never seen it so quiet...

I'm surprised that Archer didn't add another string to his bow and do a lit of lay preaching.
when you are parted from your worldly possessions and concerns, and alone with your soul, revelation may descend at any moment.
The bible says whosoever!
I suppose Archer is only a Lord Temporal, not Spiritual
The devil may cite scripture in his own cause... ... ...
Have their been any independently verifiable examples of people getting in cages with lions and surviving on their faith alone?

No. Moreover I don't see any of the faithful wanting to try it.

The stories in the Bible are fiction.
The whole concept of "the lion laying down with the lamb" in a utopian God governed future is utterly ridiculous.

All carnivores will just become vegetatrians will they?
jno, when was it that daniel was thrown into the arena by the Romans?

Beso, there was a reverend gentleman in the UK in the 1930s, whose name escapes me at the moment, who did go into the lions den many times.
It was only on his last visit that his faith wavered and I'm sure you can imagine the consequences.
According to most of the faithful, one is not supposed to test God by doing dangerous things in the expectation of the His protection. Maybe God got tired of restraining the lions to prove a point.

I believe the chap in question had been defrocked and was working as a lion tamer. Had he lived a more pious life he may not have found himself in such a pickle.
Sandy.. How can you know if his faith wavered? You are just assuming that, because you be believe that it was his faith that saved him earlier. Is there any evidence that his faith saved him? Probably not. Is there any evidence that the lions hadn't been fed on the morning of his demise, probably. This is what is known as anecdotal evidence and proves nothing. However if you can supply enough lions and persons of faith then there are some amongst the atheist hordes who would be willing to design the experiment. All suggestions of persons of faith to participate in the experiment are welcome.
The problem would be finding non-believing volunteers to act as controls.
Also we wouldn't really know what and if they really believed. This one isn't going to be easy..
Beso, do you think this experiment design problem should be passed over to 'science' or can it be dealt with here?
Question Author
Perhaps the entire idea is just a bit too fanciful. Where would we get all the lions?
The religious version of the experiment would randomly assign the people and the lions then designate all those who survive the encounter as being faithful and all those who were eaten as atheists.
A version with satanists might be interesting...
With Satanist one probably counts the number of lions that survive.
Beso :-)
