For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I must say that I am surprised at the way this thread has developed, not at all as one might expect. I am also surprised that some posters appear to have chosen unnecessarily to engage in arguments that they have no intention of arguing and instead simply make unsubstantiated statements. I cannot understand why some posters are so reluctant to simply answer my original question but would rather engage in verbal fisticuffs.
Keyplus, Ummmm is right. Christianity does not forbid alcohol. In fact alcohol plays a very important part in Christian ritual.
This is copied from the internet: //The Eucharist, also called Holy Communion, the Sacrament of the Altar, the Blessed Sacrament, the Lord's Supper, and other names, is a Christian sacrament or ordinance. It is reenacted in accordance with Jesus' instruction at the Last Supper as recorded in several books of the New Testament, that his followers do in remembrance of Him as when he gave his disciples bread, saying, "This is my body", and gave them wine, saying, "This is my blood".//
Devout Christians who attend church take part in this rite regularly.
Your claim that the story of Jesus speaking from the cradle can be attributed to the Koran is also wrong. It was a well-known myth in the Middle East long before Mohammed was born, and came from The Infant Gospel of Thomas. The clay birds that came to life are also there. As has been said before, there is little in the Koran that wasn’t in the public domain long before the book was written. Mohammed was a wily old prophet. ;o)

Sith, //yes naomi, i know the answer, and i have already said it about 8 times.//
Still can’t see it. I can see a lot of defence of Islam, but still no definitive answer to the question.
//of course you have to have common sense to work that out, dont you?//
Ah ….. I see! It’s a riddle! I have to work the answer out! Tut! Why didn't I realise that? Silly me!

Keyplus Your total intolerance, your ignorance, your blind stupidity, your total lack of any reason or decency.
The way that you continually attempt to support the inhumanity of your religion, in the teeth of the fact that any decent person, any person with one ounce of humanity would see it for what it is.
In the face of your unsupportable argument, how do you respond? With inanities. Your attempt to distract the argument shows you lack of both intellectual capacity and your knowledge of your own religion. What has the divorce rate in this country to do with anything? If you don’t like this country leave. As I have stated before you are happy to take the benefits this country offers, yet you criticise
There is a news article do you address the story? No you quote one woman in a population of 7 Billion. Why shouldn’t I use the news, you make it sound as though, it weakens my case instead of yet again weakening your “argument”
Do I understand this? I understand that you are a stupid, stupid “man” I use the term loosely, I understand that you are a coward and I understand that you cannot present your own arguments and you cannot support the points you raise.
As for Sir Ian, his best friend was Viv Richards, he never made himself a perfect man. So for calling you on your fascism, you think you can call me a racist?
EVERYTHING I LEARNED ABOUT ISLAM? I LEARNED FROM YOU

FredPuli – I believe these verses are from Bible, so perhaps read these yourself.

And if you do not agree with these then come to common sense. Is alcohol good for health or bad? And in right mind (after all the latest research) you can’t say it is good. So what a prophet got out a miracle he performed that is as a result damaging millions of people’s health, destroying society and families. But you still have a choice, just deny that these things are happening and you would be safe.
Father Ted – And who would be the posters you are talking about. It can’t be me as I have given a very clear answer to your question.
Naomi – If there was little in Quran that was not known before then perhaps people should have acted upon that. I have said that before that similarities are because the message was same. For a sensible person even that is the reason to believe that all of these religions talk about same things. And any sensible person knows that Bible has been altered and Quran hasn’t. But then again I am talking about sensible people, and people who use their brain and are not stuck at one point. And finally thanks for few more attributes towards me, as you are showing your hidden face, slowly but steadily. Keep coming.
Birdi – Ignored again.

At last same old plea. And trust (you would not and you do not have to, as I do not need approvals from deluded people) me I am not taking any benefits form this country more than what I am giving to this country. I don’t know how many like you are getting paid from the tax I pay here ever year.
As for your Sir Ian, he only showed his friendship with the great Viv Richards to cover because he was on the brink of being ban for racial comments. And I personally have had experience of his racism.
And here is your Sir Ian. His best friend Alan lamb still does not talk to him as this case forced him to sell his house. There you go, read the following and change your hero.

///Now days, Botham divides his time beating his wife, hurting small animals, making racist remarks toward that black prick Imran Kahn, and thumping people on planes. He raises money for his "children’s charity" with his now famous Asian and Caribbean sex tours, and is wheeled out to stir-up passions every four years for the Ashes. He still remains barred from the MCC and most cricket grounds have a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching within 100 yards.////

1) Benifits are not in money - They are freedom of speech - democracy - The rights of the individual things which if you had the opportunity you would crush. As I said if these things offend you leave.
2) Your tax - I probably paid more in tax last year than you earned. So yet again you show presumptive ignorance, you presume that I am unemployed why? What are you some shopkeeper screwing every penny out of the poor/
3) "He still remains barred from the MCC and most cricket grounds have a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching within 100 yards"
This is Sir Ian who commentates at every cricket ground in the country so where is this restraining order but you cannot get such a thing against property. So you show that yet again you are an ignorant liar, who knows nothing.
How does he do an asian sex tour? Also Lamb and Botham are still friends although at the time Khan won subsequent facts have shown that cheating in Pakistani criket is rife.
The last article you posted is a joke - pure fabrication. Your interpretation of facts doesn't mean its right.
You should just give it up - Your a moron everyone can see it.

<<A master had the right to have sexual relations with his slave woman with no rights due to her. Such a relation was not socially frowned upon because it was normal in that society, but what was REALLY AWFUL (stress VE) is that the slave woman had no rights, making her simply a sex object.
Since Islam came to liberate people from the chains of being socially neglected or humiliated, Islam said that such a relationship must have certain rights. It must mark a change in the life of that slave woman and the outcome of the relation, namely the child. The child was considered free …
As for the slave woman, such a relationship meant an end to her life as a slave, for she would not be the slave of anyone after her master, the father of her child. That is, she could not be sold to anyone else, and she would be manumitted at her master's death. This is a unique solution Islam offered to such a miserable life, and imagine what a great change it brought and HOW MANY SMILES(stress VE) it drew on the faces of many of these agonized slaves.
When Islam came, slavery existed, no doubt about it. And when Islam wanted to ban it, it brought logical and practical solutions for that problem. Many people had their businesses based on trading in slaves and many people were already in the bondage of slavery under their masters at that time.
Let us suppose that Islam had said, overnight, "no more slavery," what would have happened? Many people would have lost their businesses and gone bankrupt, and the economic stability of the society would have been jeopardized. Worse still, many slaves would have found themselves in the street with no shelter or ability to establish a new life...
Therefore, ISLAM WANTED TO BRING SLAVERY TO AN END (stress VE) and drain its sources but in a way that would end happily without causing disruption in the society. Islam started by limiting the sources of acquiring slaves. It prohibited raiding caravans and settled people, and kidnapping and enslaving their women and children. It highly valued the manumission of slaves, and made the freeing of slaves one way of coming nearer to Allah>>
I’m used to arguments of this type, Keyplus, but usually from Christian apologists. In fact, being a person of rather conservative instinct with a suspicion of radical change I would actually respect this argument if it were stated more modestly and honestly. I can understand the claim (which I’m sure moderate Muslims make) that neither Mohammed nor his followers were perfect, but his teaching and the Koran made life better for both women and slaves than it had been before; and that the precepts of the Koran were good for that time, but not necessarily a perfect moral prescription binding on all future generations. This is a perfectly respectable line of reasoning, used also by (what I would call sensible) Jews and Christians that God’s will is revealed imperfectly and gradually. This might suggest problems of consistency for them, but that’s their issue not mine.
But you, Keyplus, as a fundamentalist believe that the Koran is the final revelation of Allah and ,as such, must be inerrant.
In that case, based on the link you posted, might I not expect to find the following:
1. Verses in the Koran which state Allah’s will to end slavery (at some future time) as stated in the above article;
2. Verses in the Koran asserting a slave’s right to avoid the humiliation (which Islam came to liberate her from) of forced sexual congress with her master;
3. If not the manumission of existing slaves, at least the cessation by Mohammed and his followers of the enslavement and humiliation of more women.
I don’t think you’re going to satisfy me on any of these points, are you. Why not, I wonder?
Ah, the “how many smiles” statement! Well, that won’t bother you, Keyplus, will it?

Keyplus, you really are utterly ridiculous. Those verses you’ve given Fred don’t forbid alcohol – they warn against becoming intoxicated. Read them. Christianity does not forbid alcohol. There is no discussion.
//And any sensible person knows that Bible has been altered and Quran hasn’t.//
Any sensible person who has done their homework can be in no doubt whatsoever that the Koran contains information gleaned from several different sources – and none of them Allah. Bearing in mind that Allah reputedly created everything, if it did come from him, then his knowledge of science is sadly lacking, which is worrying - to say the least. When Mohammed filched the material from an assortment of pre-existing works from older civilisations, he was clearly unaware that much of what he was plagiarising was inaccurate – and so were his successors – hence the Koran hasn’t been altered – apart, of course, from having had the highly controversial and embarrassing Satanic Verses hastily removed. Adding those must have seemed like a good idea to Mohammed at the time – but then he was focussing on increasing recruitment to his newly created religion. Still, never mind. Everyone makes mistakes. Oops! ;o)
Just to clarify, I don’t have a hidden face. Unfortunately for you, Keyplus, what you see is what you get.
