It's been interesting watching Naomi, jomifl, jackthehat, etc. attempting a rational debate with Keyplus and to a lesser extent, Sith.
Since Keyplus is being wantonly childish by ignoring me, it has given me an opportunity to read all the posts dispassionately without having to retort to some ludicrous assertion or correct a deliberate misrepresentation as he desperately flails about trying to justify gross injustices in the name of Islam.
Even though I know Keyplus' rather unique style of debate well (lies, misquotes, obfuscation, lies, occasional unintentional truths, insults and misrepresentations) he still never ceases to amaze me with his sheer arrogance and intransigence to religiously sanctioned violence. His quote [17:34 Tue 27th Mar 2012], “... It made me laugh too that people are worried about things [beating your wife] that has nothing to do with them...” shows just how repugnant his world-view has become due to his belief in Islam. He genuinely seems to think that the abuse of women is no one else's business; in his world, it is a private matter between a man and his wife - God will be the judge and man-made laws are neither wanted nor needed.
I would like to think that Keyplus is a dinosaur – a living relic of bigoted, misogynistic, violent, totalitarian beliefs. I would like to think this but I know it simply isn't true. I believe that he is more representative of Islam than others would like to think. He represents the 'modern' Muslim – a seemingly moderate, westernised believer in the Islamic faith who apparently sees no wrong in any passage in the Koran or the Hadiths. A man who would be more than happy to see Sharia law imposed upon the rest of us.
Thank you Keyplus – as a moderate Muslim, you have educated us all.
