That is the usual error the religious make. They assume that atheists possess a similar mindset to themselves, which amounts to a need for reinforcement of their beliefs – and it isn’t accurate at all. I harbour 'suspicions' - I won't call them 'beliefs' - that, to hazard a guess, I'd say practically every atheist on this website would disagree with. Nevertheless, I am happy to talk about them - regardless of who agrees with me or who doesn't. In fact, on more than one occasion, several atheists here, for whom I have the greatest respect, have temporarily fallen out with me because of my 'suspicions'. In my experience, unlike the religious, atheists do not 'back' each other for the sake of it. Their arguments stand on their own merits.
