I'm sure this must've been asked before at some point (but I don't know how to find out!!)
Why is the Catholic Religion so keen on The Virgin Mary?
They seem to pray to her rather than God, as though she is able to 'answer prayers' when I was under the impression (wrongly?) that only God could answer your prayers.
I get that she gave birth to Jesus, which is a big deal but as far as the Bible goes, there's not an awful lot more about her....or is there?
The same can be said of praying to various saints. Why use (as I see it) a third party. Why not just pray to God directly? Is he too busy?

Truthabounds, //Jesus did not marry.//

Don't make statements you can't qualify. You have no idea whether Jesus married or not.
Truthabounds, how christian of you, when argument fails you resort to threats thinly disguised as warnings. I don't think I want anything to do with your mean and nasty god (not that he exists except in your mind).
It is some how quite saddening that the most spiteful and underhanded remarks being made on this thread are all by so called theists, I'm not surprised just a little saddened.

The common sense truth does really hurt doesn't it.

To one and all.
Fact - Jesus did not marry. If he had then we would have had two conflicting races of humans - one perfect and the other imperfect. As it is, we all imperfect.

Fact - I am not making threats. I do not have that right. The Bible warns every member of the human race whether or not they take heed is their choice.

Fact - Time as known to man is nothing to that of God. One day is as a thousand years. So the two thousand years you speak of is really only a few moments in the eyes of God Almighty.

There is a saying, "He who laughs last - laughs longest".
Truthabounds, //Fact - Jesus did not marry.//

Nonsense. That is not a 'fact'. The rest of your post is just as nonsensical.
//As it is, we all imperfect.//

Some more than others . . . and a few, it would seem, almost perfectly so.

birdie to TruthAbounds //It's pretty clear that you're an apocalypse enthusiast. //

This is one of many reason that I deplore the theistic viewpoint. Regardless of the flavour of their Abrahamic faith the devotees all look forward to the time when their version of God will annihilate all those who don't accept the doctrine of their particular flavour of church.

Surely such a vision is monstrous yet they work steadfastly toward achieving it.

As I have asked before, I wonder how many of the faithful would take up the sword and slaughter every man, woman and child in the name of their god following the tradition of their heroic founders under the guidance of Joshua.
Truthabounds, //The day is fast approaching when each and every person living on this earth will have an accountability with the Almighty Creator and Judge of all. I would hate to be in your shoes. One cannot mock God and expect to get away with it. You may think you are now, but I assure you, you won't. You have been warned and you have all ignored the warning signs...”//

Actually, in truth, Truthabounds, you are not in a position to assure anyone of anything, and it's arrogant of you to claim you are. Why do you think you know more than others who have exactly the same information at their disposal? You would hate to be in my shoes, but if I were in yours, I would be seriously concerned for my mental stability. I seriously cannot understand how any reasonable human being can accept such a hateful philosophy from a supposedly compassionate and loving God. It's completely irrational.
I am looking forward to a world without hypocrites, war, crime, violence, poverty, etc. etc. I look forward to be able to do all the things I can't do now because of age, health etc. I look forward to a time when we won't need Drs, hospitals, funeral parlours or grave yards.

I have hope and faith that these things will occur.

I make no threats, I only tell you what the Bible says and in doing so, like the apostle Paul said, "I am clean from the blood of all men" - Acts 20 v 26.

As being arrogant. No. I am stating what I have learned and because I don't want anyone to die but to have life they can enjoy to the full I am witnessing to the fact that God's Kingdom will soon remove Satan and his system from this earth.

There are nearly 8 million people on this earth who have the same views as I and would tell you exactly the same as I.

The scriptures say at Psalm 10 v 4 "The wicked one according to his superciliousness makes no search, all his ideas are "There is no God"

God in his love has given thousands of years for people to come to accept him. Even his patience is now running out.

Truthabounds, I find your post truly sad. You seem so afraid. What a waste of life.

// There are nearly 8 million people on this earth who have the same views as I and would tell you exactly the same as I. //

And there are many millions more than that who will tell me - and you - differently - but, like you, not one of them really knows the truth. They just think they do. Incidentally, I seem to recall you said you don't belong to any organised religion, so who are the 'nearly 8 million' you're talking about?

// "The wicked one according to his superciliousness makes no search, all his ideas are "There is no God"//

I have searched - and my search has revealed that your God is not what you and millions of others claim him to be. He is a bullying monster who maintains his grip on the psyche of the faithful by the most devious of means - blackmail. Without the dire threat of either extermination or eternal hellfire (depending upon which flavour of religion most takes your fancy) none of you would have any reason to believe in him - or to fear him. Despite what the people you listen to tell you, God's sloppy biographers have failed miserably, and if, in your assessment, telling the truth makes me wicked, so be it. That I can live - or die - with.

//Even his patience is now running out.//

There you go again. Speaking for God. You haven't a clue whether his patience is running out or not - or if he even exists! You're lying to yourself.
I remember asking my mother this very same question once, many years ago. We are Church of England, and I could never understand why the Virgin Mary was seemingly more important than God Himself. My mum explained it thus - "Well - do you know when you want something from your Dad, and you don't want to ask him yourself? What do you do - 'Mum - will you ask Dad if ........' " Skip forward one generation, and Ive done exactly the same for my kids!
