I was hoping that keyplus would take up the opportunities for free speech that are available in the UK. After all, him being a muslim he is not in danger of being attacked by hoards of murderous madmen waving swords, unless they are sunnis.

but Islam seems to be at war with the west, those who have tried to help are being murdered, countless peace workers, UN forces, soldiers training the Afghan police, army are being killed by them, and meanwhile the west looks on in horror. Another atrocity has been committed by a suicide bomber, don't know exactly where, but possibly Afghanistan, it was they say in retaliation to the film, one wonders where this leads, stops.
There was some hope with the Arab spring, millions demanding, wanting fairer more open societies, well that seems to have turned into rampaging mobs making more death threats to those in the west.
it's not just to those in the west, but fellow Muslims, those who speak out about the situation, Salman Rushdie is one, but perhaps like the man in the OP, who knows whether someone mortally offended will decry his words and call for his death too. Freedom of speech is something that has been fought for, and many have died, those who we see day in day out protesting do not see that having it has cost us dearly, and those that deny the Holocaust should hang their heads in shame.

Sith, you agree with him? So why did you protest against the film on the thread that’s been removed? Perhaps you’ll now answer the question I asked you there. Why you think a Muslim’s right to freedom of speech supersedes mine?
Em, according to the representatives of Islam here, it would appear that the right to freedom of speech only applies to Muslims – hence my question to Sith.

It is not only Muslims who are offended.
I am offended every day since I cannot turn on the tele or the radio to escape them.
They offend hindu's sikhs and buddhists, christians, you name a religion, Islam hates and offends them all.
I appreciated one ex Muslim on the tele who said that he left the faith and became a Christian because he didn't like the idea of his school friends burning in hell, just because they were not Muslims. What a wise man.

did i say that? What i want to say is that yes, ok, you have a right to free speech, but than muslims have a right to protest. Again, im not encouraging violence. Protests can happen without violence. Also Muslims have free speech. They can say they are offended and they can speak against it. That does not mean their right is more important than yours or vice versa. They are equal. However you cannot say all muslims are reacting with "violence". They are not. Many are being quite about it and some are protesting peacefully. You cannot stop them doing that. Yes, however i agree violence is wrong.
