You may think it a great joke but it isn't really funny to have to stand and humour a couple of clearly deluded women.
I know I should have invited them in and explained that my faith was the true way but wasn't feeling up to it this morning.

Sandy, you cannot blame all your troubles on the 'ungodly'. The blame for this falls squarely on the 'godly'. Regard it as a kind of parable where one is visited by one's own sins. If you were an atheist you would be far more understanding and show a bit of tolerance towards the unfortunate victims of proselytising preists and sanctimonious sermonising.

Ha ha! Steady on there, Duncer. In answer to your question, doubt it. :o)))
Let's disappoint them then? :-)
Haaaaaa! Silly sod! :o)
I have visions of you and I being banned from the 144,000 for ever.
I've no doubt whatsoever about that!! Still, I always did like good company. :o)

Night Duncer - and all. x
Take me with you.......
Batexia - “... [to Naomi] Who do You think You are to say whether or not he was/is as I expect. Or whether my religion was on his agenda. You do not know what my beliefs are!...”

As you seem to like quoting biblical texts in order to shore up your arguments I think it's safe to assume you're a Christian of one sort or another. Why the big secret though? Are you so unsure about your beliefs that you feel they'll be threatened if you were to reveal them to the rest of us? It sounds to me like you don't have the courage of your own convictions.

In a subsequent post you further say to Naomi, “... You claim to be an atheist, as least that is what I gather from reading your past comments on other threads. Therefore, if you are an atheist you are hardly going to believe in Jesus are you? Or do you have double standards...”

How does believing in the existence of a literal Jesus when one is an atheist make one have double standards? It sounds to me like you're not only frightened of saying what you do believe in but you're also woefully ignorant about what it means to have no deistic faith.
birdie, why do I feel that you are wasting your breath?
Birdie, //How does believing in the existence of a literal Jesus when one is an atheist make one have double standards?//

Perhaps the thought that Jesus was just a regular human being is beyond Batexia's comprehension.
Well from another perspective, every time the earth rotates, and, as your watch ticks off 60 seconds, more than 30 people die from infectious diseases, 11 lose the battle against cancer, and 9 are cut down by heart disease, and you know that those are just some of the diseases afflicting people; many suffer and die from other causes. While it is hard for some to comprehend the whole scope of human suffering, using the right instrument can help. Just using the Bible enables us to discern the cause of suffering.
The first one to use the term “Jews” was the writer of Second Kings (16:6; 18:26, 28; 25:25). So what is the meaning of the name Jew? It means “praise, so one here saying that one who serves Jehovah God from the heart is a real Jew.
I wondered why I've been feeling slightly nauseous.........

It'll be the earth spinning on it's axis every 60 seconds causing it, I imagine.

Thank goodness we have gravity, that's all I can say!
Goodlife, what nonsense you talk! I'm not sure where the bit about human suffering came from - that's not the subject of this discussion - but the short answer to my question is that you are incapable of reading the bible from a non-Witness perspective - and my assessment was correct. Get it right. Jesus was a Jew - his mother was a Jew - you are not and never will be.
You see Jehovah’s devoted witnessing from house to house, , conducting Bible studies, and engaging in street witnessing. We can also praise him by witnessing informally, and the internet whenever the opportunity presents itself. Then again, we can praise Jehovah by our upright conduct, even by the neat and modest way we dress and groom ourselves. Jehovah’s Witnesses have often been praised for being exemplary in these respects, poor you Naomi got nothing good to say.
Goodlife, you really are in La La land aren't you. Whatever doesn't suit you, no matter how true it might be, goes straight over your head. Heaven forbid you should think for yourself!
Among the many qualities that help the true Christian not to think more of himself than is necessary are submissiveness and humility. The submissive Christian is always learning from God’s Word and applying what he learns to his own life. He eagerly does God’s will as it is progressively revealed through Jehovah’s visible organization.
//The submissive Christian is always learning from God’s Word ...//

God never wrote anything. You've learnt all you think you know from other men who know no more about God than anyone else.
Therein lieth the problem - many of us are not submissive (except in bed perhaps), so count me out of being converted to believing some non-entity that supposedly exists, goodlife et al, and you can probably include Naomi and others but I'll let them tell you that.
DT, I think he's got my message. ;o)
Yes, when people try to think independently of God, they set aside the perfect standard of goodness, righteousness, virtue and faithfulness and become victims of their own selfish, sinful inclinations and degrade their own thinking ability.
Goodlife, you haven't just degraded your 'thinking ability' - you appear to have abandoned it altogether.
