Image Of The Koran
26 Answers
Hi, I'm doing a quiz for an Asian group soon, and have been asked to add some spiritual questions, with no restriction as to specific religion. I know that images of the Prophet are not allowed in Islam, and that there are restrictions on some other things as well. Does anybody know if an image of The Koran, on the same slide as a picture of The Bible would cause offence?
Thanks for your attention.

Seajay, images of mohammed are only forbidden in some branches of islam, try following link for more info. http:// zombietime. com/ mohammed_ image_ archive/ Whatever you do you are bound to offend someone. If you are not showing the images in an insulting or derogatory way then I don't see what anyone could object to.

I would not think so. This site (for example) has quotations from both on the same web page. http:// www.dia nedew.c om/isla m.htm

As Jom says, contrary to popular belief there are many images of Mohammed in Islamic art, but in the current climate you might be unwise to use them. Check out Amazon. There are lots of images of the Koran there - and as far as I know, since they aren't images of living creatures, there is no reason for anyone to object to you using something like that.

I didn't give any answers in case her Asian Group saw them .
However the covering is replaced every year and the new one is made in Egypt. The old one is cut up into little squares and sold to the Hajis i.e. the pilgrims. At one time it was not replaced but a new one was put over the top , however it became so heavy the roof collapsed, since then it's replaced.

Thought I'd read it somewhere.
