How different the Mormons’ reaction to the hit show currently being staged in London to the hissy fits other people of religion throw at perceived slights – not least the attempted banning of that other stage hit, Jerry Springer, the Opera. The Church of Latter Day Saints is using the success of the show to launch its own adverts. Rather smart business practice, don’t you think?

I haven't seen the show, just bits on the news. But I'm not sure how you can satirize something that is a parody in the first place. I know it worked with "Springtime for Hitler" but that was a rare example.

I would have thought that the Mormons would view anything like that as good publicity. After all, more people will see the show than is ever going to open their front doors to the those clean cut young boys that they send around. You can see them coming a mile off, in their identical business suits, white nylon shirts, and the Magic Underpants showing ! They never seem to send any female Missionaries round....anyone know why not ?

There are less female missionaries than male - but they certainly exist. I had several conversations with two of them.
I shall look out for them naomi. I shan't answer the door of course !

How do they dress, so I can recognise them ? Do they girls have uniform as well as the boys ?
Women don't have to go on missions, but the men are expected to. There is a missions dress code but not a compulsory one. An interesting website is Nauvoo which is a Mormon discussion forum.
Ps no I'm not! I agree with Naomi that the LDS have been very smart, even buying ad space in the program saying, you've seen the musical, now read the Book.
Well, good for the Mormons, taking it in the spirit that it was intended. Not short of business nous, as you say, naomi!

Mikey, the girls just dress modestly.
I am grateful to Wolfgang for pointing me in this direction :::

I am still not quite sure where Kolob is. Is it the same planet that the Scientologists believe their God came from ?

Also, how did Jesus get across the Atlantic all those years ago ?

Despite the FoxNews article, I am still confused !
The Mormons may think that Jesus walked across the Atlantic.
Of course.....the Dead Sea pedestrian act...I had forgotten all about that !
Thanks FredPuli43 !
This place, 'Kolob', if you read it backwards and add an S...
Interesting sandy but the word in question is not commonly used on the other side of the Atlantic. Along with pussy for a cat. I got into trouble on my first visit to the States when I remarked on how lovely my friends Mum's pussy was. It was a Siamese and strikingly beautiful.

Don't even start me on Fanny Pack !
