It's difficult to take anyone seriously who has a surname as a Christian name.
As Billy Connolly would confirm - he probably has a bri-nylon shirt and a gap between his teeth!

Here he is. Is that a syrup he's wearing? Wouldn't that be considered unseemly vanity in a Christian?

A society has not come of age until it can laugh at itself. I have found that most theists seem to be unable to take any form of satire against themselves.
However most comics today are so short of talent they resort to crudity and shouting to get a laugh . I haven't seen the show so I can't comment on it but nowadays lavatorial ' humour ' has become the norm, so I can well believe it's OTT.
As for the accusation of blasphemy . We are British, we don't do religion and there is no blasphemy law in this country .

I was wrong the law on blasphemy still stands in NI.
In the rest of the UK it is no longer an offence since 2008
but was alive and well in 1992'
// Michael Newman, a secondary school science teacher and an atheist, was arrested under England’s blasphemy law for selling Wingrove's blasphemous video, "Visions of Ecstasy" in February 1992 in Birmingham. He was forced to resign from his school position due to protests from Christian parents. As a result, he became a subject of discussion in the media, including an appearance on Channel Four’s Comment[34] programme in England.[35]//

Modeller is right - The councillors, realising what buffoons they have made themselves out to be, have reversed themselves - and the play is now sold out. Good ;)
