If religionists accept that their god created life on this planet do they accept that their god created good AND evil? I assume the two would come together because of said god creating everything apparently. If this is the case how can religionists justify condemning evil (in the name of god?) when it was created by their god anyway?
It is just one of the intractable contradictions of the Abrahamic faiths.
Ask them who made the rule that someone or something had to suffer for their God to grant forgiveness. Hardly genuine forgiveness is it then?
Or who decided the death an innocent animal is acceptable payment for the sins of person.
Or why must the multitude of descendants of a sinner be punished to the third and fourth generations for acts done by someone who died before they were even born. Or why every woman for eternity is punished by increased pain of childbirth for Eve's disobedience.
The Abrahamic faiths are all part of the same gruesome death cult dreamed up by ancient, ignorant, arrogant, misogynist men who sought power over others by using guilt.
All life feeds on life; it's the way the system works. Is it clear that eating eyes only is worse than eating the whole of the creature ? Anyway if you have an continued existence after death then your troubles and tribulations have are but a moment in your total existence.
I thought just for a moment there was a hint of original thought in Goodlifes 0919 post on first page, but a quick Google shows it is more Copy & Paste, can that man not think for himself?
Agreed Baldrick re Goodlife's continued Copy and Paste efforts.
However this time he has included " Christian " in his puerile attempt. This annoys me as I yet again stress that the "sect"known as Jehovas Witnesses
are NOT Christians.
Catholicism (from Greek καθολικισμός, katholikismos, "according to the whole") is used as a broad term for describing specific traditions in the Christian churches in theology and doctrine, liturgy, ethics and spirituality, and is a Religion in every sense of the word, which is what the OPer was referring to.
SirOracle, Jehovah's Witnesses consider themselves to be the 'true Christians'. If you think they're not Christians it would be useful to explain why you say that.
"" It is just one of the intractable contradictions of the Abrahamic faiths. "".
So beso why do religionists believe it and not accept (it seems) that their god created everything therefore he must have created evil too? Selective belief then I suppose.
Naomi. Have just looked in for a brief moment, and don't wish to enter into a prolonged theological discussion,so I will be very brief.
All Christian denominations accept and indeed use the "Apostle's Creed" in their worship This is a prerequisite ( although by no means the only one ),to being a Christian. JWs do not adhere to this, ergo they are not Christians.
I hope this necessary rushed response to you does not come across to you as arrogance on my part.
The reason GL uses cut and paste is that when he tries to write his thoughts down they sem to be nonsense, so he might as well use pre-printed nonsense that has the approval of his boss,.
SirOracle, If all Christian organisations recognised the others as truly Christian, there would only be one church. As it is they don’t and therefore we have hundreds of different denominations – Jehovah’s Witnesses only one of them.
Dunnitall, selective belief it is - it's known as faith.
I think the question of evil should make some sense to God, at least the Christian one, e.g. in Jeremiah when he talks about "if [a nation] does evil in my sight, then I will reconsider the good...". (18:10). Which incidentally is a tacit admission that God is capable of changing His mind. Which, in turn, probably clashes with omniscience, surely?
