Why Is God Not Invincible ?
61 Answers
It is repeatably said in the bible God is invincible . So why does he appear to always fail ?
He failed to defeat Satan and has failed on billions of occasions to defeat evil
throughout history . In fact belief in him is a major cause of evil, in its self.

There seems to be some confusion here between Christianity and "religion"
Here is a brief synopsis of the tragic events in Iraq
A week ago, Christians were warned to either leave the city of Mosul and other areas under Islamic State control, or they would have to pay a tax or be put to death. Today, nobody has heard from those Christians and nobody knows what is happening to them.
Are they being quietly "put to the sword" as this militant strain of Islam asks they be?
The Human Rights Watch reported on July 14 that homes in Mosul were painted with red letters to indicate Christian homes. Other homes of *** Muslims were also adorned.
Christians who have escaped reported being deprived of all their belongings except their clothes. Jewelry, money, automobiles, even food and water were confiscated on the edge of town as Christians were forced to pass through Islamic State checkpoints.

Grasscarp, //This has been turned into does this mean you support iSIS. Please stop the inane ripostes.//
Inane? My question, albeit seemingly uncomfortable for you, is absolutely relevant to people who declare that they respect the beliefs of others, and ask that everyone else does likewise, as Scooping did. Okay, you’re a Christian who also wants everyone else to respect your beliefs, so just what, in your opinion, should we be respecting? The notion that the use of birth control is sinful, or that children are sinners from birth, or that false science is fact, or that anyone who doesn’t believe in a particular god will (depending upon the flavour of the cult) either fry in hell for eternity or be doomed to total oblivion? I can respect none of that. Can you?

No confusion. The Islamists you described are reading from their issue of the same basic religion of murder, bigotry and intolerance that pervades the Abrahamic faiths. These religions, including Christianity are primitive blood cults, obsessed with punishment and death.

In considering the matter of religion, many people might first think of what Jesus taught and did?
But before you examine that, first book of the Bible, Genesis. People earth wide are familiar with what it says about Adam and Eve.
Simple as that account may seem, it is a key place to look in searching for identifying marks of true religion.

goodlife - "... marks of true religion."
If there is a 'true'relgion, does it follow that there is a 'false' religion?
What makes your faith any more valid than the Stone Age man who worships the sun - except that he can see his idol, and it has a tangible effect on his life.
A faith is just that - a belief in something which cannot be proved or disproved - but that presents a level playing field. Everyone's faith is real to them - some choose to quietly live with it, others likt eh JW's believe it is their task to inform other people of their position - but the fact remains -
anyone's faith - or indeed lack of it - is as valid or invalid as anyone else's - wouldn't you agree?
As an atheist, I don't have this problem to wrestle with, I don't believe in any God, so the validity of one over another is a passing interest to me - i would hate to be shackled to the notion of a faith that took over my daily life to the degree that yours appears to.
From my experience of Christians - it is a life full of doubt, pain, regret, wonder at God's cruelty, constant justification, praying, and worry. There seems to be no enjoyment, humour, pleasure, or fun in Christianity, aside from an inbuilt sense of superiority that seems to be built into it.

Grasscarp, I make no apology for attacking religion – it deserves nothing less – but unlike you, I can offer a reasoned argument and hence I don’t resort to personal slights. I have asked you what it is you want us to respect – a question you have consistently avoided answering. Unless you have something of substance to say, there’s really no point in continually nagging people who disagree with you to shut up – which is what you appear to be doing. Why should they? And that leads us directly back to my original question to you – what do you want us to respect? Do you know?
