. . . or perhaps they're a scared to speak out against anything that has been done in the name of their own religion . . . sometimes silence speaks volumes.

There was a gang of killers operated in Belfast in the early 70s who delighted in mutilating their victims with knives. I think one was decapitated.
'Ordinary Protestants' had no need to apologise for their actions. They were hardly representative of the entire Protestant community.
Likewise, why should any Muslim contributor to AB feel any need to apologise for the actions, largely politically motivated, of extremists?

Might it be that the atrocities are being done in the name of Islam Sandy ?
If there were Nuns and Parish Priests, travelling from the Home Counties, to the Middle East, armed to the teeth, I would expect the Pope and the Arch Bish of Canters to expressing an opinion, wouldn't you ?
According to the news this morning, there are hundreds of British Muslims fighting in the area, some of for the IS forces. Is really too much to expect British Muslims and their Leaders to publicly condemn these actions ? Isn't the absence of any condemnation rather difficult to understand ?
The Islamic world needs to get its head around the fact that most of this current business is being done in the name of their religion.

Oh I agree with the issue !
You should nt cut off the heads of captives and film it.
[ O god I feel like being made to say out loud: you should nt put small dogs in microwaves and put it on. ]
Sandy: Shankill Butchers - and the fella that put them away had just had an obit in the teleg. So Mad - ( even for er the Irish ) that when the Butchers killed the wrong people once, they then planned "reprisals" which involved um murdering a few more

as an English RC I was grouped with the lot bombing Birmingham.
rather obvious I didnt/wasnt but I bore my cross cheerfully
If you recollect that Cardinal hume used to take apart Cardinal O'Brady's failure to condemn the IRA with such regularity and efficiency that in the end O'Brady used to refuse to meet him

We can probably count on one hand the number of Muslims on AB but on other recent threads there have been comments made.
Generally, there have been a number of folk on here who feel that not enough condemnation has been expressed from the Muslim world. I am not exactly sure to what extent some people believe should be said or done.
If some were inclined to check, there has been much condemnation from senior figures and organisations, protests and of course, the recent fatwas.
One idea mooted on here was for a petition to be drawn up and widely distributed so that as many Muslims could publicly declare their abhorrence.
