`Lets face it Religion brings nothing into humanity apart from war and is only used as a power of control and money. What will actually be the final straw when these old books are merely just a joke to out future generation? They will be looking back and laughing how stupid we were to follow what is merely a fairy tale.

What scientific discoveries will stop religion or what events?

Yes, one advantage of taking the doomed route means they will no longer need to knock on my door.

someone will be late to the check-in, buddy, and turfed off the plane.

Birdie - because the Mods/Ed are probably chit-scared about a beheading or a hot poker up their jacksies for any inference that offends a Muslim, especially those of Wahibi or ISIL persuasion. Don't worry, naomi and I are condemned, probably goodlife as well, so there's the one you need on the JWs.

Bit like major or minor airlines, or even the Hol cos, in overbooking flights.......yes they are, divebuddy....

The same is true about ISIL - what happens when they run out of vestal virgins, though there is nothing in the Quran about which sex they have to be.
Infinitely! ;-)

birdie, one of Site Rules is do not report a post just because they disagree with you. I would suggest the person who removed your post has not applied this rule to their decision. Obviously reporting and removing are different but the same rules should apply to both.
I think the decision to remove birdie's post typifies what is wrong about attitudes to freedom of expression. Not wishing to deflect the OP but this is an important issue.

Birdie's post was excellent and I am willing to wager that it resonated with the majority who read it which begs the question, why are we pandering to the 1% who were offended?

Shame on the mod responsible. How do AB'ers now have any confidence in an alternative opinion that is well argued and one that gets a BA to boot??
I'm late coming back to this question - No VE , not barcodes ,the prediction is far more accurate . "...all.......to be marked on the right hand or the forehead , so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark...."
John was describing a vision , supposing it was a vision of people shopping , today or in the near future ?
The right hand is the contactless payment card ( i know you can use them with your left hand but 90% are right handed and John was describing what he saw )
The forehead is a retinal scan (again , John won't have known what the machine was called , he was just describing what he saw ) How do you think these retinal scanners will work - an operator will hold them in front of your eye ? - of course not - that's too manpower-hungry . You will place your FOREHEAD on a template and the scan will take place .
Retinal scans are not up and running at the moment but they have been invented - you see them on the "technology" pages of mainstream news site , and you see reports of a "cashless society " on mainstream news sites too .

Well , there's a lot of food for thought and a lot of " What If..." in there , but for me the "right hand" part of that prophecy is already up and running .

All the best everyone (and keep using cash ) .
benhilton, if John described what he saw why did he say marked on the hand instead of holding something in the hand? Also what mark is there on the forehead when a retina scan is used?
If one truly want to serve God, he must believe what he says, about the way of peace, health and enjoyment of life will come about.

He need to realize, too, that what the wise writer of Ecclesiastes said is true of this present world of things in which we live, namely, “that which is made crooked cannot be made straight.” (Eccl. 1:15) Yes, this system of things is too shot through with selfishness to be reformed or redeemed. As evidence i see here. you are a poor lot.
Vulcan , John seeing this vision 2000 yrs ago doesn't know what these things are called or how they work . With the card , he saw people putting their right hand on the machine and described it as paying "with a mark on their right hand " and with the retinal scanner he saw people putting their foreheads on the template in order to have their eyes scanned and he described this as paying "with a mark on their foreheads" . If you go back 30 yrs ( if you're that old) and somebody shows you a clip of someone having their retina scanned and you had to describe it without knowing what it was , you might say " Well , that person seems to have put his forehead on that machine for some reason ..."
Of course , if at that point in his vision God had said to John "This is a retinal scanner " then there would be no doubt .
As I said , there are a lot of ifs and buts , but for me there is enough in that prophecy for me to think that part of it is already up and running .
benhilton, can you not see that you're making it up?
Naomi , retinal scanners have been invented - it's not made up . Contactless payment cards have been invented - it's not made up and indeed we probably all have one . "...to be marked on the right hand or forehead..." is not made up by me , it is there in the bible in writing for everyone to see . By all means feel free to challenge my interpretation of it , but it is NOT made up .
benhilton, linking two statements together and coming to a conclusion that satisfies you, doesn't make it true.
benhilton, of course retinal scanners etc., are not made up, but however you look at it they’re not marks.

" benhilton, linking two statements together and coming to a conclusion that satisfies you, doesn't make it true "
It's just my own view Vulcan . - for centuries people have been trying to figure out what that bible passage means . I look at what I'm seeing around me and I'm thinking " This is it , it's here and now..." I don't expect everyone will agree with me , far from it .
benhilton, I get the impression that you find the prospect of the end of the world quite thrilling. You’d better hope you’re batting for the right team.
