If Religions want to widen their flock of followers, why would they not update their 'bible' to the ever changing morals of Society.

The present archaic chauvinistic homophobic murderous enslaving traditional scriptures are enough to put anybody off. Surely if these were updated a religion would become a more attractive prospect for someone looking for extra guidance in life?

According the present tenets every muslim who doesn't behead infidels is not a practicing one, or every RC who does not condemn homosexuality is not a true christian.

Well with opinions like that, you obviously know little about true Christianity.
But as long as you have had the opportunity to learn, that is all that matters, and we move on.
/ you obviously know little about true Christianity. /

whereas of course some are privy to god's thoughts and have the advantage of us poor benighted souls...
wildwood; So if the bible was re-written to your personal requirements, we can take it you would be first in line to sign up to Christianity? If you ain't a Christian now, why would you want to become one after a little tweaking of the bible?
The bible and God do not evolve.
Reading rhe bible makes you privy to Gods thoughts.
Theland, In that case you'll know what a monster he was - allegedly.
widwood; If it is religion, or perhaps a spiritual dimension to your life you seek it is your mind you will have to change not what is written in books.
So was Winston Churchill, allegedly.
Seriously, take things out of context, and you could prove anything.
Not good enough Theland. What is taken out of context? The Bible says what it says.
Then the WHOLE bible paints a very different picture, and Christ Himself a figure of love and sacrifice, shows us the true nature of God.
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.

Theland, //Then the WHOLE bible paints a very different picture//

The WHOLE bible doesn't paint a different picture - the New Testament paints a different picture. Why do you think that is?
No you are wrong. God blesses and chastises His people to build a nation for Himself. All His actions are for their good.
Jesus believed this and so do I.
/The bible and God do not evolve. /
It says so in the bible dunnit?
/Reading rhe bible makes you privy to Gods thoughts./
complete bowlox Theland all it does is give you some idea of what the church wants you to believe, that's all ..no more.
Where is god's input into the bible? it's all hearsay and muddled history, nothing more.
It always fascinates me when a religion changes its techings/views on something. Since they all get their teachings from their gog it can only mean that their god has changes its mind. In other words, ther god got it wrong and is now putting it right. But gods don't get things wrong, they're perfect, so how can that happen?
The bible doesn't evolve as it is a set book now. A decision from the various religions that use to make changes to it could occur, and a variety of versions created as a result, but if it is redone too much then that's a different book.

A deity, as we now define it, isn't going to evolve as it has to be timeless. In any cases species evolve not individuals. That doesn't mean one might not see different aspects of an unchanging deity as time changes for us.

Religions can and do go through reformations. But again if the change is too great then it is a different religion, not the same one that has come to terms with reinterpreting its beliefs to fit what is now known. However not every religion manages to go through this type of transformation often enough. Too much reliance on the wisdom (and reverence) of the ancients, not enough (or not quick/often enough) reappraisal and update to a better model. That said when you have something based on faith of divine revelation it must be difficult to convince the masses that you all didn't have it quite right before, and this new view is what they should now believe. Religious revolutions excepted, it'd may sound like saying they have to adopt a new religion from here onwards.
God's input is all the divine revelation to those who claim it.
God won't have changed a mind, but may have decided mankind can now understand a little more than they could before, and cope with it.
OG, the RCs neatly sidestep the issue by their invention of papa infallibility. Yesterday when the pope said that black was black he was perfectly right. Today when he says that bkack is white he is perfectly correct and he is still correct yesterday. I think it is all to do with quantum entanglement, obviously the RC church got there first.
:-)

Of course, it is both black and white at the same time until the Pope makes an observation.
