Do We Need To Guard Our Speech?

One important reason to guard our speech is that words have power. Proverbs 15:4 says: “A calm tongue is a tree of life, but twisted speech causes despair.

I agree with you on that proverb Goodlife, the bible does have a lot of good advice, however that does not mean I believe in a 'God'.

Let's take rape as an exercise in stupidity and how trying to cover it up is dismal as to a biblical perspective. Goodlife is going to love this:
Ex. 21:7,8 - A father may sell his daughter to be a "maidservant" (or sex slave) who must "please her master."
Num. 31:18 - God orders his warriors to kill every living thing in a
captured city, except the virgin girls, who are to be raped and
turned into sex slaves. (Yes Isis, you are on!)
Deut. 21:11,12 - If a warrior likes the look of a female war captive, he
can take her to be one of his "wives." (That's me in)
Deut. 22:28, 29 - A man who rapes a virgin may take her for a wife if he
pays her father 50 shekels of silver. (Yet a bride found not to be a
virgin must be killed - Deut. 22). Let's ask this one of ABers
Judges 5:30 - The spoils of war include "a damsel or two" for every man. (Could include some of our AB female warriors).
Judges 21:12, 28 - God's warriors killed all the inhabitants of Jabesh- Gilead except for 400 virgin girls, who were taken as slaves.
If there are not enough girls to go around, God's warriors may raid
neighboring towns for more to rape.
There's plenty more.....the conclusion being that most of God's so called religious crews are nutters and perverts.

In the unseen world, the realm of invisibility – in your imagination whom do the peoples of the earth dread? Why do they make idol images?
Many find it difficult to believe in God, or they seek solace in the idea that God does not exist. They take up atheism but little do you realise that you are worshipping yourself and the God of this world. Would mankind be better off as some think, without God or religion? Is it possible for an atheist to be happy?
For a fact, church dogma may have helped prepare the way for the theory of evolution and atheism.
Many on this site comment on the scriptures and state that they are twisted,or put a completely different interpretation on them, but they do not have an understanding.
Insight, discernment, and perception are all closely connected to understanding.
The basic meaning of these terms reveals the understanding person to be one able to see into a matter and discern its composition by separating the individual factors or features that compose or act together to form the whole, then to see the relationship between them and thus grasp, the significance or meaning of the matter.
What does it take to make you happy? To what extent is your happiness determined by conditions Are God and the Bible involved in your finding happiness? Let us consider one
People, can contribute to our happiness. What a satisfying thing it is to have loved ones who care about us,—Ps. 127:3-5.
But know that having material things and close associates does not assure one of genuine, lasting happiness. Some persons have the richest of food in abundance and surround themselves with modern luxuries; yet happiness eludes them.
Why? People who live only for rules can fall into the trap of being loveless.
How upbuilding all of us can be if we live by Paul’s counsel: “Clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, mildness, and long-suffering. Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Even as Jehovah freely forgave you, so do you also. But, besides all these things, clothe yourselves with love, for it is a perfect bond of union.”—Colossians 3:12-14.

Birdie@ If your house was on fire and nobody came and told you, how would you feel?
Think about the terrorist attacks recently in Brussels, the authorities had an idea that something was going to happen, they even had in custody one of the perpetrators and yet let him go. They did nothing and a lot of people lost loved ones.
Man can do nothing about it. Yet God’s Kingdom warns us that there is going to come a time when all these terrible things will end. You laugh and mock. They laughed and mocked Jesus Christ when he warned that Jerusalem would fall.
Would you laugh and mock if your house burned down and you and your family were inside but nobody bothered to warn you?
When the tribulation that is mentioned in the Bible begins, bear in mind what I have been saying, but then, of course it will be too late and you won’t be able to say, “I didn’t know, no one warned me”.

I can too say but I know that my words would be utterly fruitless in the face of your abject arrogance, our knowledge of the Bible provides no basis for looking down on people or referring to them in disparaging terms. (John 7:49) Rather, God’s Word counsels us “to speak injuriously of no one.” (Titus 3:2) When we are lowly in heart, as Jesus was, we refresh others. (Matt. 11:28, 29) So humble one adds appeal to our message.
