There seem to be various campaigns which have a light a candle event and more personal vigils of sorts if that is the right word.

I think there was one for SANDS last year, for people to light a candle on an awareness day. I've seen some others too.

My mum did this, Sandy...when someone close died.....she said it showed the way to our house for their last visit on the way to heaven.....

I have got battery operated candles in some of my windows. They are on a timer, set and forget. I don’t have a particular reason, i just think they look nice.
