Those who mock the bible don't know the first thing about it. Inconsistencies appear due to simply not knowing the whole text. The prophecies are coming true right now, and the numbers and messages in the bible just need a little commitment and digging to reveal its glorious truth.
Don't let the opportunity for salvation pass you by.
God wants to change your life right now. Will you try and bring yourself to read the message of Jesus Christ and ignore the mockers and blasphemer?
Khandro, do you believe that the people who were alive at the same time as Jesus, when hearing the words" He came not to bring peace to the world, but a sword", were capable of appreciating the difference between a real sword and an imaginary sword of the spirit?
"oh yes" they said wisely stroking their beards, "he doesn't mean a real sword like the one in my belt but a sword of the spirit which I've never heard of"
As to be expected Khandro, you have endeavored to cleverly avoid answering the question. Dare I say, if you have Not got a Visa for Heaven then you could end up in a 'burning ring of fire'.
The probability of life from chemicals, and a universe from nothing is zero. A correct application of the scientific method would be to follow the evidence. Doing so most certainly does NOT lead to a materialistic explanation. If panspermia is given credence, with alien origins, then that is simply absurd and a spiritual dimension has as much validity as say quantum theory.
vulcan; My last try; If you and atalanta believe that Jesus ran around brandishing a real steel sword then you both know nothing of the gospels. Do you not understand what metaphor is? If you do not comprehend metaphor and allegory then you must both live in a pretty barren world, excluded from poetry and literature.
Do you think that when Shakespeare wrote of the 'slings and arrows of outrageous fortune', Hamlet was bemoaning the fact that he was being struck by real stones from real slingshots and real arrows shot from real bows?
Khandro, Jesus told his disciples to buy weapons. No metaphor there. I wonder who he really was? It's my guess that his existence had nothing to do with the supernatural.
Khandro, of course I know what a metaphor is. I was asking you if you thought the people who lived at the time when Jesus preached knew the difference.
I also know what condescension means as well.
Naomi 8.12..
I remember someone who 'knew' his bible saying that Jesus told his disciples to buy weapons (swords), because of any wild animals they may encounter on their ministry...
