Robert Powell On The Real Jesus Of Nazareth
33 Answers
“Robert Powell: The Real Jesus of Nazareth” follows the actor made famous for delivering the on-screen portrayal of Jesus Christ in the 1970s. Powell and his team speak to historic and cultural experts to ask: “if Jesus existed, who was he? What would he have done? And where would he have done it?” – questions I’ve been exploring for years.
I’ve just spotted this programme so missed the first episode which was shown last Friday, but it’s a four part series and, for anyone who’s interested, I’ve checked and episode one is available. I look forward to seeing what it reveals – if anything.

In Matthew’s Gospel, for example, we find Jesus asking well-versed religious leaders such questions as “Have you not read?” and “Did you never read this?” prior to his giving them the Scriptural answers to their crafty questions.
benhilton, that’s the point. Joseph’s ancestry is heralded as evidence of Jesus' status but unless Joseph was the father of Jesus, Jesus had no claim whatsoever to that family line. Therefore the whole concept is nonsense. That aside, I was rather hoping that the programme would investigate, in a factual manner, Jesus the man but it doesn’t because it embraces a pre-conceived notion – and that is not conducive to rational investigation.

It would be a short program to investigate that subject because there is absolutely nothing contemporary to suggest that Jesus Christ was a real person.
All there is are the fantasises in the New Testament that are not even consistent with each other.

Personally, I find it somewhat ironic that there's far better evidence for the existence of Santa Claus - https:/ /en.wik ipedia. org/wik i/Saint _Nichol as

Except atheists are not in miserable despair.
Moreover, our optimism tends to be focused on improving the planet and the lot of its inhabitants rather than eagerly anticipating a monumental massacre.
