Of all the alleged creator Gods imagined by man (a couple of thousand at least), why do you (if you're religious) opt for the Abrahamic God in particular?

There are many thousands of people that genuinely believe the claptrap spouted by Scientology as true. That doesn't mean it is true or that it was founded in truth.
That's my basic belief in religion. May people believe it to be true even though it is claptrap. If it makes them happy then no harm done. It is when harm is done in the name of that religion that the problems start.

Spungle , If asking questions that your club refuses to answer renders me, in your opinion, superior, I suggest you address your own inferiority complex. Perhaps that’s what causes you to need so desperately the endorsement of an imaginary god. Just a thought.
Theland, //We are the enemy.//
You’re not the enemy, Theland. That’s a terribly sad attitude - and actually, given the past, in saying that about me you really should be ashamed of yourself.
Hazi-Hammenuhoth, //Do you have any more questions you would like help with//
Well, you've not given me a straight answer yet, but I do have another question - not that I expect a straight answer - but here goes. Why don’t you read the bible … really read it ..... instead of wriggling around the uncomfortable?
//If anyone has a genuine question, God would not deny that or fail to provide an answer//
Gosh!! You know what God thinks, what God wants, and what God will do – and your friend calls my attitude ‘superior’? Oh my!!

Naomi- every answer I have given you is a straight answer, as any reader will see. Are you ungrateful for the answers? Are you really wanting answers to your questions? Or have you already made your mind up?
I do read the Bible, and find it sad that you imply otherwise, with no evidence whatsoever to back it up. That doesn't seem objective reasoning to me, but evidence of a closed mind.
"You know what God thinks, what God wants, and what God will do/
Yes, the Bible tell us that "God desires all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth."
If you have any more questions, please do let me know. I will do my best to help you.

Theland- you say 'I sometimes feel mocked and humiliated.' Yes, that's normal Christian experience. As Jesus said " If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me."
In reply to Naomi24: /Spungle , If asking questions that your club refuses to answer renders me, in your opinion, superior/ No, it wasn't that actually Naomi- it was the fact that you snapped back at Hazi "Your religion renders you incapable etc" That is just being downright rude at someone who has taken time to answer your questions. Do you even know Hazi? Or are you exposing your own ignorance?
/I suggest you address your own inferiority complex./ You have got to be kidding- for someone who prides themselves in their "critical objectivity" you are very quick to clutch at straws and draw the wrong conclusions with no evidence. You are clearly ignorant. Just read your own answers!
/Perhaps that’s what causes you to need so desperately the endorsement of an imaginary god./ Me desperate? You don't even know me. Have you looked at your responses above? Some Christians have had the goodness to answer your question, and gone to some lengths to explain their position, only for you to spit back at them. Readers will draw their own conclusions who is desperate here and who is quick to belittle faith yet quicker to herald out baseless pronouncements. That's what bigots and hypocrites do.

Why The Abrahamic God?
There are many possible answers to that question, all of which demonstrate a lack of information necessary to come to a rational conclusion. In many cases it's simply a matter of being the one they were exposed to when they were vulnerable and seeking genuine answers to their questions. This is much like asking why someone succumbs to one form of flu and not another.

Spungle, righto. Did you have an answer to this question or are you just going to carry on ranting?
Hazi-Hammenuhoth, none of the answers you’ve given me have been straightforward and depending on Saul, the interloper, who never met Jesus, never heard him speak, and argued with those who had, doesn’t do it either.
You know the bible, then why ignore this bit?
//"I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." Jesus the Jew - Matthew 15:24 //
Sorry guys, Jesus trumps Saul, so try as you may you are not among the chosen.
This thread has gone off track somewhat. Would anyone like to answer the original question?
Evening Mibs. :o)

Naomi, just to respond to your points here.
/Hazi-Hammenuhoth, none of the answers you’ve given me have been straightforward/ Naomi, that is simply not true. Please at least be honest when making assertions like this. I have answered very straightforwardly.
/and depending on Saul,/ Depending on the Word of God. I believe that the Bible is divinely inspired and have the greatest regard for Paul's writing and ministry.
/the interloper,/ Every true follower of Christ is an interloper ie unwanted.
/who never met Jesus,/ Not in the days of His flesh, but certainly met him on the road to Damascus- see Acts 9.
/never heard him speak, / I'm afraid thats not right either- see Acts 9 verse 5 when Paul and Christ spoke to one another.
/and argued with those who had, doesn’t do it either./ Doesn't do what? I am not attempting to do anything but explain my beliefs which is what you asked for.
/You know the bible, then why ignore this bit?/ Why accuse me of ignoring it? You are just making more assertions with no evidence to back them up.
/"I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." Jesus the Jew - Matthew 15:24 / That's Jesus speaking to the Canaanitish (non-Jewish) woman. Read the next verse and you will see what Jesus did for her- healed her! The verse you quote simply shows the special place that the Jews have in God's heart, but it certainly doesn't mean Jews exclusively get the blessing. Look at Jesus in John 4 where he speaks to the woman of Samaria (non Jewish) and reveals God to her. And Matt 28:19 where Jesus enjoins his followers to "make disciples out of all the nations." All mankind can take advantage of the work of Jesus- John 3:16, "that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." That extends to all of us, including you and I.
/Would anyone like to answer the original question?/ Why would they, when you clearly have no respect for those who have?
