Come on! Subjective morality? Take in a Muslim.
What's stopping you?

...and apart from that^ they're not asylum seekers. How about taking one of those in, maggiebee?
maggie was talking about family /adopted family. Presumably you mean unconnected strangers naomi
Look at the question.
If teh question is "Come on! Subjective morality? Take in a Muslim.
What's stopping you?"
maggie answered that bit. We can answer the bits we want to answer and not be told to answer other bits if we choose not to.
I think i have answered it.
I think all the answers so far have shown none of us would take in any asylum seeker if they were totally unconnected- just as we wouldn't take in any random stranger.
I don't expect anyone to say anything different.
I think there's no mileage in this thread.
fiction-factory, my post to maggiebee has no relevance to you or to your answer - and as far as I can see no one has 'told' anyone to do anything.

You may not think there's any mileage in this thread. Others, who haven't yet given their opinion, might disagree.
>maggie was talking about family /adopted family. Presumably you mean unconnected strangers naomi..

Have you answered that then, Naomi? Of course you don't have to
Yes of course I mean unconnected strangers. I presume Muslim asylum seekers are unconnected strangers to most of us .... don't you? I wouldn't have thought I needed to elaborate....
I'm happy to wait and see of course but if anyone is waiting for someone here to say they will take in any asylum seeker (other than perhaps if there is a family link) then it may be a long wait.
You're probably right, but we'll see.
The paperwork would be too complex.

In 2015 Yvette Cooper (aka Mrs Balls) and Nicola Sturgeon both announced that they would be willing to accommodate a Syrian refugee. As far as I know neither has. If they can’t circumvent the bureaucracy with their connections I’m sure I’d be unable to.

NJ, //If they can’t circumvent the bureaucracy with their connections I’m sure I’d be unable to. //

One wonders how others have managed.
One wonders how much they treid.
YMB, offers like that is called making the right noises.
ummmm
/// Why on earth would people invite complete strangers into their house? ///

Yet it is the same ones who would not invite complete strangers into their house, who have no objections to inviting them into their country.

Double standards if you ask me.
AOG - I completely understand the concerns of too many immigrants coming into this country. But I also understand people wanting to help people fleeing war torn countries. Sympathy doesn't grow a spare bedroom or gives extra money though.
What a great idea, take in a complete stranger on the advice of another complete stranger.

What could go wrong?
I already subsidise them by paying my taxes. Also suffer from a number of allergies and don't want to risk trying it.
