Christian Crosses In Bavaria.

Some time ago, a few churches removed crosses in case they offended muslims who were being offered shelter there.
Now German state of Bavaria has just passed a law insisting all public buildings must display a cross at the entrance, to emphasise the country's Christian roots, and I suppose. Try to stem the tide of Muslim influence.
I think it would be a good idea here as well.
How about you?

The Christian Jesus and the Muslim Isa don't have a lot in common, HC. Muslims view the cross, like all other Christian iconography, as idolatrous.

According to Islamic eschatology in the last days Jesus will return to smash the crosses. This is one source:

"Jesus [will descend to earth].... He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine, and abolish [the tax Jews and Christians pay to Muslims]. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. "

This may explain why many churches and mountain-top crosses in Europe have been vandalised.

I'm aware of that, v-e, but in recent years there has been many instances of Muslims protecting Christian churches and Christians in countries including Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan, Cameroon (and vice versa).
In the UK we have Christian churches welcoming Muslims to hold their Friday prayers within the church (usually because there is no local mosque) although there is some opposition from both parties to this.
Churches and Christian symbols have been desecrated since the beginning of Christianity, today it is usually mindless thugs and thieves pinching the lead off the roofs.

Indeed, HC. As there were Hindus protecting Muslims, and Muslims protectng Hindus during Partition. I recall reading recently that a senior Muslim cleric provided a Schindler's Ark for Jews in the occupation of Paris. The world has decent people in it. Which is not the same as saying that all cultures, or all religions provide equally fertile soil for decency to flourish.

Back to your list of countries. Where did you hear about that? Apart from the Coptic church in Cairo which was attacked I can't remember the media talking much about attacks on churches. Not aware of a Jordan issue, but, not just in Cameroon, but in West Africa generally - e.g. Nigeria, Niger, Chad - burning churches and killing a few Christians is commonplace. Lot of it reacting to the "Je suis Charlie" demos in 2014.

A first step in Bavaria perhaps but not in other places. Switzerland has already acted to restrict the building of new mosques and just this week Denmark has joined France, Belgium and Austria in banning the burka. Hopefully Europe is finally waking up.
