Andy I don't know what the "rules" of Isam are and whether its a requirement to belive in the whole of the Koran.

I belive that to be LDS, you have to believe that the whole of the Book of Mormon is he literal truth although their church leaders do have inspirations which re interpret it. For instance a recent change is that soft drinks containing caffeine are now allowed, although hot drinks containing caffeine are not.

I do know what the rules are for being able to call yourself a member of the Church of England. the rules are contained in the Creed.

There are dozens of circumstances when an abortion is justified - and no, a method of birth control is not one of them.

But I have always maintained that one person and one person only makes the decision about abortion, and that is the mother, because she is the one who has to go through it, and live with the agony and emotional devastation it brings for the rest of her life.

Yes there are women who are careless with their bodies, mercifully few, but that doesn't entitle us as strangers to make lofty moral judgements that affect their lives for ever.

It is a dreadful moral and ethical dilemma, and it cannot be left to anyone but the person involved, to make the decision on the outcome, however painful that may be for others.

You can say you don’t agree with abortion on a principle but when certian sotuations arise or if very specific situations are at topic (like rape) your principles can change

Because every woman is different, and every conception is different, it's impossible to apply a one-size-fits-all rule to this difficult and distressing issue.

Andy, I suspect that Theland means that the woman should be counselled and educated out of wanting an abortion! But perhaps not in which case perhaps he will explain?

Sorry Spath, anyone who thinks a little girl, say 10 years old, ought to be forced to carry and give birth to a child which is the product of an horrific assault is off their flaming rocker.
Pregnancy, even a much wanted, much longed for one, is an immensely difficult and invasive thing. To be forced to carry a child as a living, growing reminder of the person who forced you to have sex with them, then go through the trauma of birth, and the emotionally crippling decision of what to do with the child afterwards, is not only mad it's positively Satanic.

I don't know about you, but I could never attain the colossal heights of arrogance and superiority I would need to think that it is my role to 'educate' a woman out of doing what she feels is right for her - but then, I'm not a devout Christian like Theland.

I asked Theland for clarification Spath, which he hasn't given yet, his reply could have been taken to mean that abortion in cases of rape were wrong, so i've no idea if anyone 'here' thinks that or not tbh, but you said:-

and I assert if they think my scenario is acceptable they are utterly deranged and I stand by that. Some people do indeed think that, some of them politicians, like Rees-Mogg and a whole host of the crazies over here, so it's not such an uncommon view as you may think.

kvalidir - As a man I am automatically disqualified from having any say that might actually affect any woman's ability to source an abortion if she wants one - but sadly, others of my gender make and enforce the laws that prevent that circumstance, and that is morally repugnant in my view.
