Why are humans the only animals on the planet that *seem* to have religious convictions?
I don't see any chimps or gorillas having wars over religion?
There have been millions of different life forms on this planet and yet it is only humans that wage war over things that cannot be substantiated?

Nailit, as far as our knowledge has, humans are the only animal with a sense of self, although this conclusion has been challenged in recent years.

I tend to agree with the article with my experience of cats and horses.
However, Humans also have an understanding of death, and because of this have made up stories to try and comprehend or give a reason for death. This includes afterlives, gods whatever. Animals do not do this because they have to expectation of eventual death. I think they can sense when its near but can't ponder on it in advance.

I would like to contribute, but given recent experiences of abuse and ridicule from a few on here, I will not.
I shall continue to look in from time to time, but other than that, my energies are better spent elsewhere, and more productive.
Best wishes.
^^^ Theland so why come on a serious thread to flounce?
Flounce?
Theland . This is not chatterbank, If you have no intentions of adding to the discussion on religious animals why bother coming on a thread to say so? No one cares anyway.
Thank you.
Some abers may care .

Well done Anne, your input is as relevant as always.
Anne maybe you have misinterpreted my reply. I meant to say no one cares if a poster decides to ignore a thread, I did not mean no one cares about whether animals are religious or not. The subject of the post is quite interesting.
What an unhappy lot some of you are, cheerio. The dog and I are going to say a prayer.
Theland, you're playing the drama queen yet again. Stop. It doesn't wash.
Naomi - you never give up do you?
Your subtle innuendo and inferences satisfy your ego, and make assumptions that are simply not true.
All topped off with an insult! "Drama Queen!"
You are displaying some poor manners that are quite surprising coming from you.
Anybody else agree?
Theland, not rude – frank.

21.54: you declare that because of the abuse and ridicule you’ve been subjected to you will no longer contribute here but will look in from time to time.

22.01: You’re back.

22.06: Back again.

23.53: Back again.

23.54: Back again, this time attempting to drum up support for your petulance.

At varying times since your initial declaration: Back again in other sections.

And you wonder why people don’t take you seriously? Seriously?

Disagreeing with you does not equate to abuse or ridicule and throwing your toys about when you’re miffed, which you do on a regular basis, doesn’t render your claims any more justified.

Elephants act very different around their dead

The wars bit tho, most wars are about power and or territory, which quite a lot of other animals also fight for
