How Should True Christians View Politics?

Some say, ‘Religion and politics are subjects that not talk about.’ Even if you feel that way, it is in your best interest that you be informed about what is happening regarding religion and politics and how this may come to affect your own life. Further, by referring to the Bible on this matter, you will find that God has things to say about religion’s mixing in politics and about where it is leading.(2 Cor. 6:14)

Well,Jesus Christ was not interested in mixing religion and politics. He wanted no part of Satan’s world or political system,( Matt. 4:8-10)

Since mankind rejected God oversight, they had to set up their own forms of government. The apostle Paul, writing to fellow believers in Rome, spoke of such human governments as “the superior authorities.” In Paul’s day, the superior authorities were primarily the government of Rome under Emperor Nero, who Paul said that such superior authorities “stand placed in their relative positions by God.” ( Romans 13:1) Does that mean that Paul was advocating human rule as superior to God’s way of governing? By no means. Rather, he was simply saying that as long as God allows human rulership to exist, Christians should respect “the arrangement of God” and accept such rulers.

well it says to me there is a pyramid of authority - with God at the top. but I thoroughly applaud the idea of what did Paul say? What did he mean then? and what does it mean to us now 2000 y later bearing in mind that Nero is dead and the Roman Empire is no more

and it seems to me that it has absolutely nothing to do with current government ( mention of God but no mention of Caesar) - paying your taxes - and parking in the right places
( where - "give to Caesar what is Caesar's" does seem to apply. No mention of caesaer and no mention of God there)

somewhat different to mine
but then my NT Gk teacher did say once (1980) - are you planning to publish your translations Mr Pedant - they really WILL cause quite a stir in theology circles !
