Some say, ‘Religion and politics are subjects that not talk about.’ Even if you feel that way, it is in your best interest that you be informed about what is happening regarding religion and politics and how this may come to affect your own life. Further, by referring to the Bible on this matter, you will find that God has things to say about religion’s mixing in politics and about where it is leading.(2 Cor. 6:14)

I always understood that politics and religion shouldn't be mixed.
alleluia!

Politics is mildly interesting, I have no interest in religion whatsoever
Isn't that St Paul, not God? The same bloke who said "let your women keep silence in church"
See ? We've lost our way :-(
They should view politics as they should view the bible. Don't believe everything you read or hear about either!
We've only got to go over the Irish sea to see what happens when you mix politics and religion!

Well,Jesus Christ was not interested in mixing religion and politics. He wanted no part of Satan’s world or political system,( Matt. 4:8-10)
Romans 13,1
goodlife, do you therefore think that we are absolved from the christian duties to love and care for one another when we make our political choices.....

Since mankind rejected God oversight, they had to set up their own forms of government. The apostle Paul, writing to fellow believers in Rome, spoke of such human governments as “the superior authorities.” In Paul’s day, the superior authorities were primarily the government of Rome under Emperor Nero, who Paul said that such superior authorities “stand placed in their relative positions by God.” ( Romans 13:1) Does that mean that Paul was advocating human rule as superior to God’s way of governing? By no means. Rather, he was simply saying that as long as God allows human rulership to exist, Christians should respect “the arrangement of God” and accept such rulers.
A good answer.
Goodlife. You never seem to answer any question directly. Are you a robot?
This sort of divine right of kings nonsense was just used to subjugate the masses. No modern day person should have any truck with it.
So God set up earthly authorities and Jesus wanted no part of them?
you know I am going to look this up
so why dont you do it beforehand?

2 Cor 6 14
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or bwhat fellowship has light with darkness?

which has nothing to do with religion and politics

anyway what is wrong with - give to Caesar what is caesars?
lardy daaah
Matth 4 8-10
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[a]”

is not separation of this kingdom and the next
but ..... temptation
and isnt one point - the devil had no power to give all the kingdoms .....
"No stay wit da kine peopo dat no trus God. Cuz da peopo dat do da right kine stuff, an da odda peopo dat stay agains God's Rules, dey no goin work togedda. Da good kine peopo an da bad kine peopo no can stay tight wit each odda. "

// ( Romans 13:1) Does that mean that Paul was advocating human rule as superior to God’s way of governing?//

Πᾶσα ψυχὴ ἐξουσίαις ὑπερεχούσαις ὑποτασσέσθω, οὐ γὰρ ἔστιν ἐξουσία εἰ μὴ ὑπὸ θεοῦ,

let every soul be under authority - if not by Gods
(my translation)

well it says to me there is a pyramid of authority - with God at the top. but I thoroughly applaud the idea of what did Paul say? What did he mean then? and what does it mean to us now 2000 y later bearing in mind that Nero is dead and the Roman Empire is no more

and it seems to me that it has absolutely nothing to do with current government ( mention of God but no mention of Caesar) - paying your taxes - and parking in the right places
( where - "give to Caesar what is Caesar's" does seem to apply. No mention of caesaer and no mention of God there)

just me - my opinion
jesus thanks Archibaldy
is that the pidgin translation of Romans 13 1?

somewhat different to mine
but then my NT Gk teacher did say once (1980) - are you planning to publish your translations Mr Pedant - they really WILL cause quite a stir in theology circles !
