Nailit - The Bible records the history of the Jews right from Abraham up to our present day.
Naomi has said this can all be explained away and very patronisingly tells I have had all of this explained to me before.
So what?
One ladies opinion.
Easily checked out and I have done so.
Try it yourself.
This thread (and associated video) is not about whether Lawrence Krauss is infallible (although you're welcome to point out any inconsistencies if you can). The point I see that made it worth watching for me is that science has enriched our understanding of and gives meaning to our place in the universe. I'm content with the possibility that few if any share my point of view in this regard but I thought I'd share it with anyone else who might also appreciate the value I found in watching it. PBWY
Mibs - I agree with you. All of these scientists are worth studying and do indeed enrich our understanding.
Like a giant jigsaw puzzle, each piece has its place in increasing our understanding of the universe and our history and place within it.
A great thread. Thanks.
I use new knowledge to compare with the Bible.
Often difficult, but so far I have never found anything to negate my belief in God.
I have found that materialism is constantly being eroded and there is often a grudging acceptance that it is so.
I do like to keep an open mind and keep it respectful and friendly, although I have to admit that on occasion I have overstepped my own boundaries.
No one of us should be held to an arbitrarily perfect standard. I do however try to acknowledge and redress responsibility. I've found that time wasted in self-condemnation is better spent in realising the best within me however meager my attempts may seem at times.
To condemn everyone based on the worst of us is an injustice towards the best of us and a disservice to all of us.
Theland at 4.11, I’m out of the country and using a phone so I cant copy and paste - but Naomi spoke about prophecy not about Abraham -patronisingly or otherwise.
To tell me I have had this explained to me before, makes me sound like a wayward schoolboy. Rather patronising I think.
Hope you are enjoying your trip, and return safely to continue discussing.
Depends on how it's read/interpreted. I use similar phrases to highlight the frustration of going over old ground when someone brings up the same discredited statements again and again. Still, moving on.
Theland, thank you - but you have been given rational explanations. That you choose to ignore the rational in favour of the irrational is your choice. Biblical prophecies are not ‘unerring’.
