Religion tells us that God did it. Science shows us how and in the process the hand of God is no where to be seen.

Life is what occurs when that which is created through uncertainty is modified through stars and their effect into elements that eventually get organised into self replicating units. Evolution is inevitable since after things self replicate, with flaws, only those fittest to survive will do so and be able to create more of itself.
Having an afterlife doesn't prevent making the most of the present one. That we are here suggests there is a reason for being here, and we need to make the most of the opportunity; especially if failure to do so finds one inevitability routed to a place of fire, brimstone, and abandoning of all hope.

The thing is Theland, I'm not bothered about arguing the toss, you have your beliefs and I have mine. I would never disrespect your beliefs, that's not my way when it comes to religion. Each to their own. My wonderful Dad believed in 'Our Lord' as he called him, although he wasn't a particularly religious man, but I would never have said to him that there is no such thing as 'Our Lord', he believed there was and that was absolutely fine with me. I believe we evolved and that is also fine with me!
