What Has God Ever Done For You

That you could never have done for yourself anyway?
Theres always lots of debates on AB (or at least r&s) about the existence of God, creation v evolution, the historicity of the Bible etc.
But very simply, what has this 'Being' ever done for YOU?
When I was a teenage fundementalist' Christian I was very taken with stories about how God had helped someone find their lost car keys after a prayer or how someones Aunt Aggie had recovered from an operation. (After a prayer of course).
The Bible tells us that if we pray in faith, that mountains can be moved. Jesus (allegedly) says that his followers will do even greater things than he.
If this is the case, then why arn't christians active in hospital prayer in childrens cancer wards?
Why dont amputees ever grow a limb back after prayer?, Why has Maddie never been found despite the prayers of thousands of christians? Why are there so many people still ill (even terminal) after recieving prayer?
What has God ever done for you, that you didnt do for yourself?

You didn't believe it then, and I doubt you would believe it now. //
What constitutes'evidence' depends entirely on the ability of the recipient to understand what they are seeing / hearing / reading.
That means, for primitive man, the moon crossing the sun means the gods are angry, for modern man, that's an eclipse.
For primitive man, sailing to the edge of the world risks falling off, if not eaten by dragons first - for modern man, it means a round-the world cruise opportunity.
The concept of 'evidence' is an infinitely moveable feast, and what you as a Christian see as 'evidence', the chances are, naomi does not see it in the same way.

\\ n. You know exactly where it is, but you would of course reject it.//
You have agreed on another thread :
\\ jim; I'm in full agreement with your post at 13:21 but one of the most hackneyed requests on these threads has always been demands by the non-religious for evidence of the existence of a higher power which by your own definition is not possible.//
If this is the case how can you and Theland talk about showing this "evidence" before?

The "evidence" for Christians would be;
John 11:25-26. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.
If you ain't a Christian then it isn't evidence, do you have a problem understanding that?

//Theland, if God didn't cause cancer... what did?//
The religious, (simplistic), answer is original sin. (ie, a couple of humans were deceived by a talking snake into eating a piece of forbidden fruit while living in a magical garden).
The rational explanation is that cancer is a horrible disease that takes loved ones away by horrible means. Its a mutation of cells that dont support life!
