That you could never have done for yourself anyway?
Theres always lots of debates on AB (or at least r&s) about the existence of God, creation v evolution, the historicity of the Bible etc.
But very simply, what has this 'Being' ever done for YOU?

When I was a teenage fundementalist' Christian I was very taken with stories about how God had helped someone find their lost car keys after a prayer or how someones Aunt Aggie had recovered from an operation. (After a prayer of course).
The Bible tells us that if we pray in faith, that mountains can be moved. Jesus (allegedly) says that his followers will do even greater things than he.
If this is the case, then why arn't christians active in hospital prayer in childrens cancer wards?
Why dont amputees ever grow a limb back after prayer?, Why has Maddie never been found despite the prayers of thousands of christians? Why are there so many people still ill (even terminal) after recieving prayer?

What has God ever done for you, that you didnt do for yourself?

Thanks for the link, mamya xx he does seem too confused to know what he means. There seem to be so many "justifications", but none really make sense.
If the fault is evolution or overpopulation (as claimed above) , that really doesn't prove that a god was necessary or involved at all.
I go Christmas shopping, FCC... for us, it is a family day, and not because of religion. It's just that some of my family get the time off, so it is convenient x
I think it shows that's there's no simple answer and at the very least he does not seek to cast blame.

I wasn't actually asking a question as such, just wishing everyone well as they continue to search - hobby or not.
No, fair enough xx I think the answer is simple and obvious, tbh. But if people claim otherwise, it's nice to know why (although a straight answer is never forthcoming).
The simplest answer... is most often the right one... xx
Too often, an attempt to answer a question, or pass a comment, is seen like a bloody piece of meat to a pack of slavering carnivores, hungry for blood and ready to kill.
It does not make for a comforting experience on Answerbank.
//If it wasn't God, nailit, that caused cancer..//

If you believe the bible, it was. "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things" Isaiah 45.7.

//Unless God makes mistakes...//

He did - and he admitted he did, the flood his (failed) remedy.

Theland, you don't answer questions. Where's your 'overwhelming evidence' for the resurrection?
There's no reason to say that, theland, or play the victim xx
We respond and ask questions according to what you post. And if you really are convinced in your views, you would be only too happy to let us know.
It worries me a little, that you sometimes see it as a "challenge" or something you need to do research for, or find videos, so others can try to answer for you...
Just your own ideas, reasons, thoughts, are perfectly good enough, so if you really believe this... have a little faith in yourself xx
If not, and I think, you aren't sure, but want to believe... then maybe lay off YouTube... stop thinking that all atheists follow particular people, and just start again from the beginning, yourself xx
Thanks, naomi, for your answers at least... theland didn't xx
And the point being?
Mine? I have asked several questions throughout the thread, and also said I would be patient and wait when you said it was too much.... you haven't yet answered a single question I have asked (and I don't need to post them again, they are all still there)...
But, if you were really convinced about your own thoughts, you would quite easily reply to everybody.
That is is an effort, or involves "research" just makes it seem that you are not really sure, until you have seen someone else's views. And you don't understand those enough to even try to explain them yourself.
I am not interested in the views of strangers... but I am in yours... but you don't seem sure of them yourself?
// Archbaldy - God does not give kids cancer, or anybody else for that matter.//

So can God take away cancer then?
Hold on, archie... we are still trying to find out why they get it in the first place...x
Kids cancer? Anybody's cancer? Any evil?
We live in a fallen world, a world infected with sin and evil.
That is the underlying reason.
Who caused that, though, theland? X
But in answer to my question, could God cure a cancer, fix those evils if God wanted to? Or not? I'm confused.
Mankind's selfishness.
Archbaldy - yes.
Theland, god said he created evil. Why don’t you believe him?
As far as I can see, theland... mankind didn't "cause" cancer, but is doing everything possible to find a cure. Could you explain a bit more, please?
Thanks Theland. So to recap God doesn't cause cancer and the evils, but could stop them, but doesn't. But it's mankind that is selfish. Not for me thanks.
