nailit - // The mother needs to have it explained to her that she is carrying a life, not a collection of slime cells. //
Rather than talking to the expectant mother as though she is an eight-year-old with a personality disorder, you need to talk to her and explain that the choice is hers, and no-one else's.
Regardless of the views on abortion from complete strangers, it is a mother's right, and her right alone, to decide if she will carry her pregnancy to term, and it is her decision, because it is her body that has to carry to result of the choice either way, and it is her mind that has to carry the consequences of the pregnancy, again, either way.
It's all well and good for lofty Christian principles preached by those who have no input into the ongoing life of the mother, but they should be ignored completely in favour of practical and emotional support which all expectant mothers need at this time.
Support and help to reach the right decision for the mother concerned will always trump the moralising of conceited faith peddlers who have no business meddling in the lives of others.
