My Google logo today is made from 'Christmas lights', and bears the uplifting message, 'Seasonal Holidays'.
Is this yet another ploy to put Christianity on the back-burner and brain-wash our youth and the gullible ?

Mine is just plain old google. Could it be a German/European thing?
Mine is plain too.
Mine (Greece) has decorative lights but no message.

Also, my UK one has lights but no message.
The rise of Christianity is a direct result of brainwashing the youth and the gullible, seems fair enough.

The Chair: you have to put the cursor on it to get the 'message', but it's hardly worth it.

Now is the Advent Season (or according to Silicon Valley a 'seasonal holiday') which is, or has been, about reflecting on how we can "prepare our hearts and homes for Christ's birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections, special music, and good deeds what the true meaning of Jesus' birth is." Once you get religion out of the way, the West becomes a formless entity, with materialism & globalism replacing Christianity.
Yule was a Germanic festival long before Christianity came along, so it's quite possible that Google.de has its own logos
KHANDRO, are you a practising Christian?
Question Author
Corby, It's not easy to answer that. It reminds me of Maureen Lipman when asked, 'Are you a practising Jew" she said " I'm always practicing, but you can never get it right".

I'm certainly a what you might call a 'Culture Christian' & I go to church(es) quite a lot.
I've also spent a lot of time studying Eastern religions.

I can't imagine the paucity of a life without a spiritual dimension to it.

Thanks mate. Having built my first computer in 1979, set up my IT consultancy business in 1983, my software development business in 1985, and my hardware integration company in 1989, followed by my network systems management firm, I find it's always interesting to get advice from a punter.
Khandro - // I can't imagine the paucity of a life without a spiritual dimension to it. //

I can - you spend your time unburdened on a daily basis trying to please a God for whom nothing is, or ever will be, good enough.

No 'paucity' here, I promise you!
Easier to type if you put the trumpet down.

Whom are you addressing please - and can you explain what your post actually means?

Thank you.
I don't like to see Christmas dismissed in favour of 'inclusivity' - and that's what this is. It's not 'seasonal holidays'. It's Christmas.
I'm a practicing Christian but that message doesn't offend me. Many non-Christians celebrate the commercial version and of course Pagans celebrate Yule on the 21st.

I receive Christmas cards from friends and relatives of all faiths and none, it is good that everyone can have something to look forward to during the winter months.
Christmas is not the only religious holiday at this time of year ...
Indeed it isn't ... but Christmas is Christmas.
I was replying to The Chair, proving once again that it's not all about you, damaging as that may be to your sense of self.

Pleased to help, but you still have to put the cursor on the logo to get the message.

Maybe my reply hinting that I know how to use Google, was too subtle for you. There is no message.
