Just a thought, but could Mani's mania be connected to the fact that he was raised Muslim? His inflexible views, his lack of compassion, his dispicable attitude towards woman, abortion, prositution and homosexuality, and his rigid insistance on following the harshest of rules lead me to compare what can only be described as his complete fanatiscism to that of Muslim fundamentalists. Perhaps mentally he's applying the same unrealistic approach to his new found Christianity as the Islamic fanatics apply to their religion. He clearly doesn't realise just how irrational his beliefs are to the rest of us, but perhaps it's all down to culture. If it is, then it's just as well he converted to Christianity, because goodness knows where such austere and authoritarian convictions would have led him if he'd have remained Muslim.

Wiz, I really don't think it's a lack of social skills, plain ignorance, or even a matter of religion. It's not his actual opinions that lead me to believe with Mani it's a cultural issue - it's his mind-set - the way he believes. I don't know if you've noticed, but whenever there's a heated debate taking place, everyone else asks questions (albeit angrily), but he rarely does. He's self-righteous; his god is harsh, inflexible and unforgiving; divorcees, homosexuals, prostitutes and unbelievers are basically infidels whom he usually describes as 'disgusting', and who will go straight to hell - and according to Mani that's all there is to it. There's no room for debate or for other opinions in Mani's world - just as there's no room for debate or other opinions in the world of the Islamic fundamentalists. I'm convinced it's a cultural thing. Mani thinks he's a Christian fundamentalist, but he's a Muslim fundamentalist at heart, and that's where the problem lies. He's a Muslim in Christian clothing.
