Suppose we're wrong. which god/which religion would you hope was the winner- let's pick the best bits from them all. I'd consider rastafari as I can appreciate their gateway to the almighty - any thoughts?

btw Oct - did you really expect me to try and defend Rastafari???
Quite like Bob Marley....
If you make choices then you should be able to justify or defend them.

I think being a Sadhu would work fine in a remote village somewhere, but it is a bit self-gratifying isnt it? Just sitting there going ummmmmm trying to find ones own liberation? In practice then, as a true Sadhu, which god would you plump for? Shiva the standard of invincibility, might, and terror or Vishnu, creator and destroyer of all existences, or just any that suits the mood of the day and how numb your bum is?

I'm all for self gratification, I never understood religionists obsession with the need to suffer.
Ok I'll rule out being a sadhu as I can't even spell it - you're making this really dificult for me - I'm rapidly running out of religions.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
Which of the religions of the world gives to its followers the greatest happiness?

While it lasts, the religion of worshiping oneself is best.
Is there any cake left? Or noodles if they're going?
Waldo's on noodle patrol I hear but I've got some carrot cake if you'd like?

How's you straw man?
S'all good. Carrot cake..not sure about that, might spoil my tea. Oh, go on then.

By the way - my answer to the question (although I'm not atheist so feel free to diregard) is that I'd love to get the religious fervour feeling some fundys get, I reckon it must be like a high of some description, but I doubt I ever will .

Closest I'll ever come is standing on an empty beach here in Ireland, listening to the birds fly over the sea and the waves crash and watching the sun go down, observing as mrs whicker gets lost in the moment. Nature's great.

Religion is meant to be bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions.

But Ill have some Tiramisu if youve got any, thats quite a spiritual endeavour.
Whicks, that sounds pretty heavenly to me.. 'cept the bit about Mrs Whicks; I'm sure she's lovely but I'm glossing over that!

Octavius, I do have some tiramasu actually but that's at home. I'll save you a piece.
China, you'll have me blushing...
When in America, worship as the Natives do.

A lot more Mibs... I've got 'Surf Control' on that link!
CD, did you have your cake and eat it?
1. Flying Spaghetti Monster
2. Buddhism (not really a 'religion')
3. Zoroastroism. Not sure what it's about, but catchy, eh?
4. Christianity. The bells, smells, originator dies founding it, major comeback: reads like a movie.
5. That one were Jesus comes from aliens.
My housemate ate it!
The heathen!

meredith, are you therefore (in your no.1 choice) content to pay homage to the 'Prophet' Bobby Henderson and welcome your transition to heaven where the stripper factory awaits?!
yeah baby, count me in. Bobby, I believe in thee (falls to knees)
China Doll, Locked the door of perception on you did they? All's well! There is plenty enough to occupy the mind here within these four dimensions and many potentials for danger when venturing into the uncharted territories that lie beyond.
Mibs - Have you ever tried peyote?
Or any other mind altering drug other than alcohol and Woodbines?
