And we are expected to embrace this religion
A gross exaggeration and misleading statement.
The 'poll' can be read here: http://www.socialcohesion.co.uk/pdf/IslamonCam pus.pdf
and on page 55 the question is:
Is it ever justifiable to kill in the name of religion?
4% said Yes, in order to preserve and promote
28% said Yes but only if that religion is under attack
53% said No, it is never justifiable and
15% said not sure.
So although this is reported as 1 in 3 Muslims say that killing in the name of their religion is acceptable, that is plainly not true.
And I am sure, Raggy, that you would be one of the first people to accept that if you are under attack, then you can defend yourself to the best of your ability.

No thanks-you try 'em.
Sorry, thought you were quite intelligent. Just in case you haven't worked itoout, your previous statement was incorrect.
The Tamil Tigers are a non religious terrorist group who use suicide bombers for political reasons.
The Japanese also used suicide bombers (known as Kamikaze pilots) for political non religious reasons.
Suicide bombers do not have to believe in an after life, but have to believe that their cause is a just one.

it is really stupid to blame muslims for all the bomb blasts. we muslims condemn such acts. now if some idiot wants to start blowing up stuff in the name of Allah its wrong. Islam DOES NOT PERMIT KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. the root of the problem is this. illetrate people are bred to hate the west. They are picked from dirt poor families and given shelter and food. the brain washed. and the west is to blame for this partially. I dont ever wish for any innocent person in india afghanistan europe or america to die in these attacks but what about the attacks in palestinian homes by israelis? the killing of innocent people iraq, afghanistan who are not terrorists? shouldnt their voices be heard. Every terrorist would justify his actions by claiming what is happening in palestine. Unless nation starts acting responsibly and not be a hypocrite all problems can be solved.
Umairsq......u r a young student soaking up education for ur chosen career and future in a civilised, developed country. The 9/11 & 7/7 terrorists had the same futures laid before them but they chose to murder and destroy infastructure instead; in the name of Osama BL!
Isreal was bequeathed as was Pakistan for similar purposes, to home different faiths. We either stand by this or continue the bloodshed.
If u r studying in UK think of the gift/chance ur offered.....u wouldn't get same in Afganistan or many other countries. Don't let yourself be brain-washed by any religion.

terambulan i dont study in UK i study in Pakistan. The education here is as good as in the UK contrary to what most people might perceive. The thing i am trying to say is most "terrorists" are brainwashed dirt poor people. It is easy to recruit them because they are told that their muslim brothers are being killed etc. Just like many people get enraged about hearing 9/11 (trust me most Pakistanis and muslims condemned that act) most muslims do get enraged when they hear so and so muslim is killed in so and so region. And i am not being brainwashed :) i am just saying what i have observed after meeting people from different cultures. tc
"Lucky I wasn't in London on 7/7 a few years back. Or in Bali, Madrid, Kenya, New York etc etc.
Your joking and flippant dismissal of the threat we face (many plots folied by the security services) is highly disrespectful to the victims of these attacks."
Actually, Raggy. I kind of disagree. Academics who study Islamism and former operatives in the security services in the UK and the US agree that the threat we supposedly face is wildly overblown - by the government (to play up how much we need their protection) and the media (it sells papers) amongst others.
Just as bad as dismissing the threat we face is using the memories of these victims as political capital to stifle debate and justify unnecessary antipathy and legislation.
Not only is it counter-productive to the lives of those who have survived, it eliminates the possibility of sensible dialogue and is incredibly patronising and exploitative to the memories and relatives of those who've died.
