Ghosts and the paranormal

Firstly.... I would like to ask whether there are any of us out there who believe in ghosts and the paranormal?

Secondly......what experiences have you had of this?

Thirdly..........having an experience with a 'ghost' , does this not porve the existence of some sort of afterlife? being trapped in another realm etc etc

Quite possibly, Naomi. I wasn't saying she didn't just trying to demonstrate that it wasn't concrete evidence.

well she didn't (meaning yvette fielding) did she, just (felt) a draft from an open window or a poke from one of the film crew having a laugh probably. in fact, i am not sure she has ever claimed to see a ghost in the ones i have watched, just concluded that there were some ...(cue diddly spooky music) ... very strange experiences and some "signs" that could mean a ghostie is there.

I don't believe ghosts can be seen, they can be felt, but not seen, we've had one vivid description of a sighting so it's hard to discern a pattern.

Television shows like Most Haunted are just that. Television shows.

Everton, it seems there isn't a pattern to be established. People have reported experiencing many different things. The ghost I spoke of looked like a person. There is no other way to describe it. It appeared as solid flesh and blood, its clothing was unremarkable, and apart from the fact that it appeared to be a person who shouldn't have been where she was, it wasn't extraordinary in any way. It didn't walk through the wall (at least if it did I didn't see it do it), it wasn't transparent, and it wasn't floating in the air wearing a bedsheet with holes cut out for it to see through.

If you believe ghosts exist, but haven't actually seen one, why do you dismiss the reports of people who have? Jesus himself is reported to have seen a ghost - in fact he held a conversation with one. Do you dismiss that report too?

i do. jesus "words and claims" were written by other people long after his time. how would they have known what he saw. they made it up.

Ankou, I agree, but I doubt the people who believe the Bible speaks the truth would.

I do not believe in ghosts - and have never seen one.

However the thought of ghosts is something I find frightening and is something that has always frightened me. I can't explain why I am afraid of something that I know does not exist!?

probably because - with the exception of casper - most of the films we see are about scarey ghostie ghouls that prey on weak and susceptible minds !!

i feel the same about the bogeyman under my bed.

Everton, I saw the ghost of an old lady. Turns out she was the mother of a woman who was dying in the room below me at a friends house. This was forty years ago, but it happened. Someone else described the person I had seen and not the other way round, which reinforced my belief that it was the ghost of the mother.

Ankou, I'm saying that people who deny that ghosts can be seen, and yet believe the bible speaks the truth, are contradicting themselves.

or they believe jesus was divine and had special dispensation to be able to see and talk to the spirits.

I put some photographic evidence of ghosts at Stonehenge...anyone know what happened to it? (seems to have been 'spirited' away!)

I am fully willing to accept the existence of ghosts, I can accept (but not agree) that it's a pefectly natural phenoma, I believe the body is the shell that carries the soul/spirit (delete as applicable), but if ghosts are the spirits of people, why aren't they naked?
