Aah ... clever, Society.
If the solutions to our problems are within us, and (according to most organised religions) God is in all of us, then a solution from within us comes from God.
Of course, if we make a howlingly bad decision, the organised religions can fall back on the "God gave us free will" argument.

hi Naomi - to answer your earlier question and try not to hijack a thread (sorry Society) so i'll try give you the short answer. I guess that most of my life i would have believed in pantheism, but felt the need for structure. Paganism (in particular, Celtic belief strands) met the needs. I took part /take part with the belief that the god/goddess deity names were in fact symbolic of certain aspects of nature - actually quite a few pagans see things this way - and not physical godheads. As I get older i no longer see the need to have this structure and I accept that nature is all encompassing, but I do still strongly see and believe in the duality of the universe. Hope that's explained things?

As a man thinketh, so is he.
"As A Man Thinketh” by James Allen. I've read this book countless times, each time I've opened it, it's always like the first. http://tinyurl.com/9czqz

Thank you, Mr Veritas, for bringing me up-to-date re the Pantheon.
Keep your hair on, society. I 'dare' becuse I'm entitled to. Pompousness does not become you. I called your question pointless because, well, it tells you nothing about atheists except what insincere attitude each would take if forced to.
If you were forced at gunpoint to believe in one of the following , which would it be: Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, unicorns? And what would your choice tell us about you?
Of course, you could argue that the number of answers you have received means that your question was not pointless in many people's eyes, so I apologise.

And there was me thinking that the Pantheon was a little guy with goats feet playing a sort of pipes!
Seriously, does this debate start to touch on the difference between atheists and nontheists? ( http://en.wikipedia.o...ki/List_of_nontheists ) How do you define a religious denomination? At what point does a belief become a religion?
