It struck me suddenly, right in me gob, and dripped down me chin and onto me soup encrusted shirt. Eureka!
I have been accused, or rather, credited, with all of the necessary attributes to become the founder of a new religion!
Slapping modesty in the chops and kicking him out into four foot of deep and crisp and even, I am settled on calling my new religion, "Thelandism."
You lot have told me that I already have dogma in spades, and with a few props like a smokey handbag, a portaloo for a confessional, and a couple of scoops to bring on the tongues, this could really take off in a big way.
A bit of your hard earned donated to this good cause may save your soul from the indignity of having your name scrawled on a few lavatory walls.
Thank you all for the inspiration.

Now then Mike Many Ones, no need to lower the tone of these opening ceremonies for this new church.

Revelation in the Bible gives us a prophecy just as mysterious as the quantum phenomenon. This quote explains it. "However, Daniel prophesied that the sanctuary (Jerusalem) would be trodden down only for 2,300 days. Applying the Biblical time scale (one day equals one year – see EZEKIEL 4:6), and bearing in mind that there is no date 0 AD, we arrive exactly at 1967!"
So, the Bible foresaw the end of a divided Jerusalem correct to the year.
This surely worthy of some serious consideration.

And by the way, if you don't believe in Father Christmas, you won't get anything in your stocking, apart from a sweaty foot maybe. Better start believing!

Just been reading the PHSYCHIC thread below, and quite interested to see that Nims still holds her belief in ghosts etc. Maybe a few others as well? (I haven't read all of them).
Anyway, she must know what I am up against when I proclaim my beliefs, to the amusement of others.
It seems that atheists can suffer closed minds, and are selective regarding evidence for their favourite conclusions.
Oh would not life be odious if we were all the same?
Theland, I've often wondered what crime has brought you to have such contempt for yourself and for reason but the source of this contempt is now obvious to me having examined the literature you read and its portrayal of the god you worship. I only hope I will not be banned from AnswerBank for providing a link to a portion of it here as evidence so that others can bear witness to the nature of your crime . . .

What crime led you to seek salvation by such means defies my wildest imagination.
Theland, why you and others persist in attempting to attribute meaning to pathetic, hindsight interpretations of prophecy, achieved by bending and twisting words, meanings, world events and/or facts to fit beats me. Prophecy cannot be equated with science, or hypothesis.

God: No Evidence,No Math,No Experiments,No Observation.
Science : Evidence, Math, Experiment, Observation.
Case closed, QED.

There are people on this board who exnibit close minded positions Theland - but ,by and large ,it is those of a religious bent that show it.

Still, whatever your theological position - have a happy winterval folks! ;)

The 1967 prophecy is quite astonishing though don't you think?
What thinketh ye of that?
Don't want to be a bore, but if you are going to use archaic English, then don't use a third person singular verb with a second person pronoun. Either "What think ye" (plural) or "What thinkest thou" (singular). "Thinketh" can only be used with HE or SHE.

Also, to return to your original question, when I was a student having one's name scrawled on a few lavatory walls was not an indignity, rather a token of recognition and esteem.
Lonely..................................Oh yerrrrr me tooooooooooooooooo

Mike Many Ones - Oops! The cardinal sin! I have upset a graduate. Upsetteth?
Yeah yeah yeah the lavatory wall of honour - the factoriesand shipyard I work in uphold the tradition to this day - our cultural imperative.
Do I smell snobbishness? Methinks I do.
Good morning, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

Mike, your insecurity is showing yet again. If you don't want to bore us, don't.

Theland, //The 1967 prophecy is quite astonishing though don't you think? //

No, I don't. People who want to make 'facts' fit will employ any method to achieve their purpose, especially where religion is concerned. What happens if we apply the same criteria to the rest of the bible - one Biblical day equals one year - as, of course, we must? It means that Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 years and that Moses dragged the Israelites around Sinai for almost 15,000 years - which of course also means that Methuselah lived to the very ripe old age of around 350,000. Doesn't quite work does it.

// So, the Bible foresaw the end of a divided Jerusalem correct to the year.//

No, it didn't - and apart from that if you think Jerusalem is no longer divided, you haven't thought about it - and you certainly haven't seen it.

As for 'ghosts', I don't 'hold' a 'belief' in ghosts. Experience leads me to conclude that something occurs in this world for which we have no explanation - that's all - so no, I don't know what you're up against when you proclaim your beliefs. Unlike you, I wouldn't venture to declare that I know the nature or the origin of the phenomena I've experienced - because I don't.

Incidentally Theland, don't be deceived as I was. Nadis is Luna.
Thanks.
If that's to me, what are you thanking me for? Stopping you from making a fool of Theland like you made fools of Wyz and me? Your identity isn't a secret - so why not tell Theland the truth rather than allow him to believe he doesn't know you? Like us, he doesn't deserve to be treated so shabbily.
All I said was, "I'll Join". I wasn't going to add any more than that. I haven't been on this site for ages and already you start having a go at me.
Why?
And I know my identity isn't a secret.
Theland never added anymore to his reply to my post and I was going to leave it at that. If he had added more I would have said who I am.
Blimey! Wish I never bothered now.
Or perhaps that is what you want.
Me to go away.
Ok, You win.
It seems every time I come on here I have to be reminded that I didn't tell you who I was when I changed my name and I tried to fool you.
I said I was sorry before but it seems that is not good enough and you cannot let that go and I have been willing to move on from that.
Thanks anyway.
jesus, i lay my body prostrate (now where is that gland?) to you and your father.

i am so deeply impressed that i am about to dive into my environmentally friendly and constructed compost pile.

yaway!, here we go.
If you cast your mind back (sorry Theland) I seem to recall Theland had an alias on R&S and was running the two on the same thread trying to fool everyone he was two different people until Wyz caught him out.
Theland apologised once caught out but you don't keep reminding him of that time.
I made a fool of myself more than anything and said sorry and am willing to move on from that. But Just for the record; I used to be LUNA-TIC then LUNA-SEA. I then changed to NADIS which I am still using now.
Nadis, I know you weren't going to add any more than that - you were going to allow Theland to continue to think you were a stranger to him which is something nice people don't do to old friends who've done their best to help in troubled times - and that is precisely why I complained.

Anyway it seems you've reconsidered and put your toys back in your pram, so enough said.
